i heard rumours that free users arent allowed to do this anymore… it just auto connects you to a random one?
In desktop Opera at least, the free, built-in VPN still allowed you to select a region. You can’t pick specific countries though. But, you couldn’t before anyway. As in, nothing has changed for the free, built-in VPN that I see.
As alternative, you can use a VPN wrapper for a proxy (not sure which one, though).
There’s a proxy client specifically for Opera’s proxy:
Run the proxy with the chosen country, and configure the VPN wrapper to use that proxy. Change the proxy country by killing the proxy process then rerun it with a different country setting.
Note: the VPN wrapper must be able to automatically reconnect to the proxy if the connection is broken.
