Automatically turn off VPN when connected to home wifi

I have a router which is configured to connect to the outside world via VPN. My android phone has ProtonVPN client app which has always-on option turned on. However, I’d like to disable VPN connection on this phone while I’m connected to my router/home wifi. Is it possible to define when to allow/disallow VPN connection based on wifi ID or other parameters? I haven’t found such option in ProtonVPN’s android app, maybe I’d have to use Tasker or similar app?

This feature is not available currently, but your suggestion has been shared internally with the product team.

You will have to use something like tasker for this

you might not know how frustrating it is not being able to work at home with vpn…

on one side, people want to have VPN app running all the time, to be sure.

now at home, they don’t need it. it just eats resources and lowers the speed. usually router has VPN so there’s also networking conflict. but there’s no way to tell app to turn off when at certain wifi. there’s no way to prevent “dns leak” anti-feature to at least connect to home DNS server, which is the only way to access tons of local hostnames.

i use root scripts and the only properly manageable app openvpn (which provided THE shortcuts and THE activities and THE profiles), but it’s still not great. struggling with this for years.

shockingly no VPN app addresses this very important home/work/knownplace problem !
