Avoiding Geo-and-VPN detection use case. Supported?

I am a digital nomad who works for a very large company in the USA (like Fortune 100 large) while I’m traveling in Europe (they think I’m in the Washington, DC area). My main requirement is connecting to both our company VPN and non-VPN company internet services (Outlook, Teams, etc.) without giving away my location. I’ve tried to use VPN services, but our company infrastructure looks for IP addresses allocated to commercial VPNs like Nord and CyberGhost and throws an authentication error. Right now, I am getting around it by having my own VPN server in the USA, but that will go away soon when my US apartment does. I move from one country to another in Europe every few months. Would buying a Deeper Networks device be a good option for me? I need at least 200 megabits per second throughput and enough QOS to do MS Teams and Zoom calls with customers internally. My main concerns are quality of service/throughput, available routes, and Deeper Networks business model risk. Only charging for the hardware seems like an iffy business model; I’d rather pay for the service to ensure commercial viability. Any feedback?

I’m in a similar situation and am very interested in how this works out for you. My original interest in Deeper was for streaming geolocation but at some point, I too will need to “appear” to be in the USA for job reasons. In theory, these devices are perfect for that use case.

My experience so far has generally been good though I am having trouble getting the streaming to work correctly. I’m the OP for the Roku thread. But the static configuration I’ve done worked exactly as I expected. I was able to solve an annoying “You aren’t from here” error with a US-based website simply by adding it to the routed list. Yes, I could have done the same thing with a big-name VPN but, as you know, those are often blacklisted and the Deeper network can give you significantly more flexibility on where you “pop out” onto the internet.

We also use Outlook, Teams, etc. I would think that if these devices can handle streaming they can handle those business apps. I’ve had no hardware-related glitches at all.

I bought the Mini because it was the most powerful device for the above reasons. Cost was less of an issue than power and stability. I’d also be very interested in the preferred routing VIP package they are talking about releasing next year. It would be worth the peace of mind for those of us who work completely remotely. Huge opportunity here for Deeper if they can make it work.

Hope you get more input. Very interesting topic.

Speeds will vary depending on the user you’ve connected to. We try to encourage users to share “Unlimited Bandwidth” as it will not affect your home network but not everyone does that. So essentially it is not guaranteed that the first USA node you connect to will give you the speeds you want, and you may have to switch nodes (essentially switching IP’s) until you get the speeds you desire.

Also you cannot choose the state you are connected to or region, so your IP will be different and not consistent, which it sounds like you need. You WILL be using a USA IP but if you need state or region specific, we do not have that feature at the moment.

You CAN run the DPN and then a VPN on top, as you may need a work vpn connection, but that will degrade your speeds using a VPN on top of a VPN. Possible, yes.

Everything that you want to be done is possible but may not be to the standards you need for consistency.

You can test the DPN app and see what you think of that service first. Go to DPN.DEEPER.NETWORK and test the app which is in Beta testing.

Please report back on your results if you decide to use the DPN.DEEPER.NETWORK and test the app

I am actually in the same boat. I have been testing it here in the states while I am here and my parents only have like a 200mb connection. I have the Mini Connect with wifi dongle. I am connecting to the dongle. I have been able to stream netflix without any issue and also play online FPS games and no problem at all. If you want it to always go to the states make SURE that you have your deeper setup and online, go into DPN, then Tunnels…and create just a US tunnel for the States. Then go into Mode and select " Full Route " in the other drop down select your US tunnel. All traffic no matter what it is will go through there. Do that before you even connect your work laptop and double check when moving your location to just CYA. Then, connect your laptop to it and I would personally have Auto Reconnect turned off on your laptop. All traffic will go back to the states then…I live in Colombia and work for a US company also. Pain in the arse that they are so strict…remote is remote…plain and simple. American corporations just need to get that through their head.

Have you considered using a residential proxy instead of a VPN? Your company is probably using something like IPQS to detect if someone is using a VPN/proxy and the chances of a residential proxy being flagged is much lower than most VPNs (and regular proxies).

I’m in literally the exact same situation… word for word…

I’ve been using an “Always Home” device for the last couple of years since my company added red tape to traveling, but it is very slow. So connecting to my work VPN will sometimes crash the device entirely if the local speeds aren’t already super high. Even worse if I have to use wifi vs direct router connection.

Then I tried switching to a GL-net Mudi with VPN router to the specific city, and cant get it to work period. Which is when I learned about Deeper Network.

I’m waiting for the DN Air to come out, as it seems better… but unfortunately, I leave the US in 2 days again and won’t be back for 6 months… so I will hopefully be using the Pico in the meantime. Hoped the Mini and Wireless adapter would show up in time, but they will be two days too late.

Edit: what was your result OP?

There is discussion about them implementing “premium” tunnels at some point which would guarantee a minimum throughput.

The pico has worked flawlessly since I left. I love it! I leave the tunnel on United States, and it just does it’s job. It’s easy to connect to wifi everywhere, and I have successfully connected to hotel LAN in my rooms even. The hotels that require signing in are easy as well. I’m super impressed. Add to it the super small size… it’s my favorite device now. I haven’t even touched the other ones I carry.
I’ve been using it since January with zero issues, and my work is completely oblivious. I’ve been to Gran Canaria, Mauritius, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, and now Taiwan… no issues with connecting or routing.
Looking forward to going home in June and using the new one, as it’s supposed to be stronger.
Speeds are kinda low, but that’s normal. 5-20mbps typically. I’m sure as more users start sourcing, it will increase.
I also downloaded their free app for my android phone, which has been super useful. There have been times a website or app wouldn’t load unless I was tunneling through the US.
All in all- absolutely worth it.
