On my old computer I was using Windows Defender ,Ad-Aware (Free) and Express VPN
I have recently bought a new computer and this comes with a free trial of Norton plus I have Express VPN.
I have been reading through the threads in here and most people seem to recommend Kaspersky as the best Anti-Virus to get but should I also install Ad-Aware, Malwarebytes etc?
Dont use Norton, its a crapware and a huge spyware
Use Kaspersky, and if you dont mind spending some bucks, try Kaspersky Plus.
What I personally do is just use ESET.
It’s paid but you can get a free 30 day trial.
I usually don’t use a VPN, I just use tor. And VPN’s are kind of useless, I don’t really know why should you use them for no reason.
And I use ublock origin and universal bypass for my chrome extensions.
Kaspersky is No.1 but not recommend for government employees (although this has only I just-in-case basis) Kaspersky has a VPN option but it costs extra. Malwarebytes, Eset and bittdefender are also excellent alternatives…
As for VPN’s: Don’t believe the hype/BS about VPNs… Basically unless you need to watch another-countries netflixs (assuming ur VPN isn’t blocked, Netflix is blocking most of the reputable ones now) OR using a lot of public/free-wifi or wifi anywhere that you have never had to supply as password, Then you really DON’T need a VPN.
Disclaimer:- The list below is based on my intensive inhouse testing of over a dozen free AVs against Zero Day Malware since December 2021. Malware in the wild evolves continuously. AVs have to also evolve themselves in time otherwise an AV blocking 100% malware last week might struggle to block even 90% in the current week. Hence do note that this list does change with time as well.
Conclusion : A single best AV does not exist.
I would like to suggest u following AVs in decreasing order of preference:-
Free:- Wisevector Stopx, Kaspersky, Comodo(not for rookie users), Avast, Bitdefender
Paid:- Kaspersky, F-Secure, GDATA, Comodo(not for rookie users), ESET Smart Security with Cloud Sandbox.
Wisevector Stopx is not as well known, but YT channels like Eclypsee Tech, COMSSTV and J ITech Solutions have reviewed it and you can check them out if you want to see how it performs.

don’t use adaware, they got exposed the other day for spreading malware. Get an antivirus like Bit defender or Malwarebytes.
Is Malware bites necessary if you have something like Kaspersky?
bro better continue with norton
all antivirus are capable ,but some jutst perform better in extreme condition
see av-test.org ,norton continously scoring perfect score just like kaspersky or bitdefender scoring perfect score
why waste money ,use norton till trial end
Kaspersky will get you the best protection.
Next to that is bitdefender and eset, still top tier albeit worse than Kaspersky
Use a decent free AV like those from Kaspersky or Bitdefender.
If all you’re using a VPN for is to get round some geo-blocking or ISP/state content filtering, a good free VPN like ProtonVPN or Windscribe should be all you need.
First of all stop using Norton.
Second, if you want a free antivirus take a look at Kaspersky Free and bitdefender free. For a paid solution you can take a look at Bitdefender Total Security, Kaspersky Plus, Malwarebytes, Sophos and ESET.
Kaspersky free.
Windows defender is not good as it couldn’t even detect 5 year old ransomware and uses alot of resources compared to Kaspersky which uses little to non and Kaspersky is in another league of protection compared to ms defender.
Norton isn’t that bad, it’s not ‘crapware and a huge spyware’ but it has too much bloat for a laptop and lacks some expert controls, but it’s still great as a set-and-forget for grandma’s desktop
Kaspersky now implemented free unlimited VPN in Kaspersky Plus, but it costs 30 a year i think. Well its not that much for an antivirus for a year.
This is how I have coped for the last few years to be honest. I’m very careful on what I click on and download.
Something that did impress me with Norton however was the other day I visited what I thought was a Non dodgy site (abandonia) and I received a pop from Norton that it “Blocked an attack from a Malicious Doman request 22”. I’ve used this site before and never received any messages from Windows defender (It might just block it but not inform you).
Wow, bad idea dude, just stick with 1 AV and WiseVector as a backup, perhaps look into sandboxie.
Bad bad idea… Just pick one of those… last 2 and yes you have much to loose when ur HDD fills up because the AV are logging each other, not to mention much of their functionality overlaps meaning only one can work at a time
If you’re capable of safe computing behavior, it’s enough. If you’re not, just pick one; you’ll be fucked regardless.
Yeah if you’re into that stuff. The only thing you can use it for is to get cheaper prices on products.
