what’s the best VPN for use in China? Also which VPN can I point to specifically state login is from Hong Kong? I saw Opera has a built-in VPN for $4/mo but I see your praise below for Nord and am curious.
I did consider using this vpn because of anonymous payments and not wanting any personal information but I will not, because it is located in 14 eyes surveillance alliance. I cannot trust VPN that is located in country which shares mass surveillance data with other countries.
I am thinking about getting Mullvad but if it sucks it’s not really used to do Netflix. For example USA Netflix in Canada. That’s where express vpn made it easy for me but it sounds like they got bought out by some company that cannot be trusted.
Is there another service that is really secure but also good for streaming? Maybe the answer is Mullvad and some other cheaper service like nord for Netflix.
Avoid Express VPN at all costs!
I signed up once just to try it out. I found the service clunky and difficult to manage, but the real kicker is they make it impossible to cancel your account.
I have tried at least three times to cancel my account, yet I am still getting charged well over a year later. The express VPN customer service was extremely unhelpful and has yet to confirm that my account has been deactivated. I have reached out to my bank to dispute all the charges.
It’s seriously a predatory enterprise. I am surprised that so many prominent podcasters still peddle this company.
For torrenting Mullvad is the best. If you are into streaming, take a look at this thread for more recommendations: Best VPN in 2023? Recommendations for reddit users
I’m also. Now I have been using CoverMeVPN for 4 months
Mullavad is cool. It has that system where you log in with a token instead of an account. Some sort of disconnect between billing and usage. Good feature.
This. Ping and download/upload speed are amazing in general. Works great headless and it has so many platforms available.
If not, I wish that Russian invaded Sweden lol so we can be even safer from the Empire *just kidding hehehe*
how did you do that? creating your own vpn. I’m a newbie but interested in learning
This should also be noted indeed, key factor.
In what way is it better than Nord
Thanks for letting me know about these other VPNs I have heard about them but yeah since I don’t need much more that Mullvad already provides I didn’t extend my trials to the ones you mentioned, even though I heard of their names.
Good to remember in the future in case Sweden gets invaded by Putin
What do you think about IPVanish‘? Didn’t they even create their own protocol similar to Wireguard or something?
I’ve heard many good things about airvpn & ovpn but Mullvad always gave me the impression their tech/admins really know what they’re doing , their apps have been audited etc
Really? It’s crazy how I get NO CAPTCHA at all both using Wifi on Mac, or tethering from iPhone, or the iPhone directly.
Note: I use Brave on both Macbook and iPhone.
But with CyberVPN, I would get Captchas every minute or so even on simple Google searches. Totally useless.
- my (limited) world. Care to develop? That said, I only use Zattoo CH (since I just left Switzerland that’s the only useful thing they produce I need to keep in this world, best TV stream app ever that I’ve been using for 10 years) and never use paid stuff like Netflix etc. since I stream them otherwise for free
- yeah the Mullvad iOS app had a few issues a month back I was unable to connect at all, that’s why I was still trying out CyberVPN (which suxx btw) thinking it was better since Mullvad iOS didn’t work then. But I randomly transitioned everything to Mullvad and luckily they fixed it apparently. If the iOS app didn’t work it would have been a deal breaker for me, despite all the above benefits stated. But fixing the Mullvad iOS app eventually makes it perfect now.
Anyone who goes with a different vpn for torrenting is kinda dumb ngl, I understand if you wanna unblock Netflix but not for anything else
I can make a video for it soon
Basically what the OP said. Most annoying for me is that a connection would ‘expire’ and force you to log in again. The client is bloated and is always pushing ads for their other services. Also no indicator in the tray or elsewhere for connection status. The list goes on. Mullvad works solidly in a hassle-free kind of way.
So the Mullvad iOS app works fine now? Would be great as that’s main case I saw against using Mullvad.
