Best VPN for port forwarding on mac

So for ages I believed proton vpn would be a the best with lots of people raving about it. But having it for a couple of weeks I’m feeling disappointed due to how hard it is to enable port forwarding in a Mac. Is there any other VPNs that allow for port forwarding to on a Mac easily.

No issues with AirVPN

AirVPN.

Are you trying to forward a port for anything in particular? Your Operating System shouldn’t have anything to do with it.

I use AirVPN with my Macbook. I use port fowarding for torrenting. You will need to use their web client to set your static port forwarding number and forget about it.

That’s good to know I just want a vpn to work easily with transmission on my mac so far express and proton don’t really live up to it. Slow downloads and I have a 1gb line. Whenever I end up turning my vpn off I get more seeders and the speed is so much quicker.

I’m literally just trying to be a better torrent user. ATM transmission with port on vpn just says closed ports and whenever I’ve looked up how to setup port forwarding on proton on my Mac it’s a total mess. Have to get other apps like open vpn and manually set it up. I’d call myself intermediate capability at best and other than copy paste command lines it’s a bit beyond my understand. Just want to have an easy experience with the torrent client I’m use to and my vpn.

Neither of my last two VPNs, ExpressVPN and now Mullvad, have supported port forwarding, and I still run torrents with excellent speed. I guess I’m just doing it wrong.

I see Proton has made it complicated. AirVPN is much easier.

You just select a port in your AirVPN online settings and open the same port in Transmission. I use qBittorrent so I’m not familiar with Transmission.

You shouldn’t have to open ports in your firewall or router.

Class thank you. Yeah they have made it rather complex so I’m going to use the 30 day money back. I always used transmission ever since my first Mac back in 2006 recently I tried to use qbittorrent but I could never get the search feature to work correctly. Managed to install the plugins but never worked and got an error message about setting up the jackett and net sdk. So just left it until I can try and figure out what to do. There is a place to add the port or to randomise it on transmission which is why I’m so confused at proton making it rather hard to get a forwarded port.

Same as qBit then.

I use sonarr/radarr and Prowlarr for media searches and Jackett for other stuff. They are all connected to qBit but I don’t search within qBit itself.
