I am an iOS and just got to my hotel. Its wifi is not secured, so i enabled a VPN, Kaspersky’s actually. When i did and went on the Wifi, it seemed to turn off and on, then off and on again, and it would stay on for a while after it. It would say “VPN” in the top right corner and when i quickly went to settings, it was doing the loading thing
I have gone to data know, and i havent noticed it bugging since. Even tho i havent been on it for alot of time, it seems to be working. No new files, apps, device management/vpn, or extensions to Safari
Should i be fine?
If you are in Premier Inn, I read weeks ago they disallowed VPN in their WIFI. If the question was pure theory, yes, a wifi network could refuse a VPN to be connected if you are in
Or a weak wifi signal could cause the VPN to drop.
Without getting too technical with the how, yes, network devices can block certain traffic (eg VPNs).
I think the router filters the mac addresses and that with your vpn and it blocks you the requests but you are still connected but you can’t go to google chrome
No its not in that chain. Its in the Hilton chain
Yes to the title or the last question?
Alright. Is it something to be worried about? Im just gonna use data from here and on
It depends on what you’re using the VPN for. If it’s to avoid cookies and DNS blocks, no. If it’s for work it should be ok depending on what your job is as your workplace should stop you accessing anything off the VPN.
You should be ok, imho I tend to avoid public wifi and hotel free wifi for reasons.
Yeah, me aswell. But im out of eu and data is expensive, so i enbaled a vpn to be as safe as possible
It is just my personal phone, and i wont do any sensitive things on it while on the wifi
You should be ok then. I say should cos there is always a possibility but usually pretty slim.
You should be ok though so feel free to vpn their wifi just be aware and don’t open anything sensitive (eg banking, entering passwords) on their wifi.
