Cannot connect....anyone else with an issue on iOS?

Having troubles with Proton VPN today.
No matter what country / server / config it just gets stuck on “loading connection info” but never connects.

I am using iPhone 14 Pro Max in Germany.
The vpn icon flashes in the status bar as it tried to connect but it gets stuck.
Obviously tried closing app, reboot etc.
No different on WiFi on cell network.

Nordvpn is working.

Edit to add I sent a report to Proton.

Yes - my iPhone has been getting stuck on “loading connection info” and sometimes “connecting” for weeks now both before and after recent updates. When I use my phone, the iOS status bar shows the boxed VPN icon at the top of the phone screen as if I’m connected, but I’m not.

This has been happening for weeks on a variety of protocols, and I was stupid and thought that since the iOS VPN symbol was showing in the status bar, I was on the VPN. I have no reliable way of knowing if my phone is actually connected to the VPN now without having to open the Proton app every time I use my phone and then double checking with an ip leak detector website.

I submitted a ticket a couple days ago but got two auto responses that they have a high load of tickets right now. If you hear back, please update!

Yep. I submitted a bug report. It’s also busted on windows

Have you tried changing the protocol in settings. I had the same issue and changed from Smart (auto) to Wireguard. I guess their smart protocol is not so smart.

Sorry to read about this problem. No issues here on iPhone 13 & iOS 16.1 connected to a Germany server right now from outside Germany. I see you posted four hours ago, so hopefully the problem has cleared up by now.

Now that I think of it, I did see that spinning thing and couldn’t tap connect or disconnect earlier, but I figured out it actually was connected. All I had to do to remedy it was tap on another server so that it connected to it. Don’t try to disconnect, just choose another server and tap on it.

This is the new normal, won’t connect anymore on iOS 16.

I think this might be merely an interface problem. The same happens to me, but if I check the connection with Browserleaks, all is well (I have the connection I think I have), and a DNS leak test shows no leak.

At least I hope that is the case.

This happens to me on Android. I have to do this every time:

a) Turn killswitch off

b) Turn airplane mode on

c) Turn airplane mode off

d) connect to proton

e) Turn killswitch on

I’ll try my laptop tomorrow, was fine last week.

This worked for me, but the issue should still be fixed by ProtonVPN.

I checked with Browserleaks as well and it looks like I have the connection I think I have, but the app still says loading connection.

I tried disconnecting and reconnecting to different servers and my IP address seemed to change to each time, so it looks like it’s working but I’m still not sure.

awesome. This seemed to work for me, despite being on ios16

Unfortunately there still isn’t a fix even after 3 months…
