I live in Ukraine and navigating to https://aistudio.google.com/ redirects to https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/available-regions and there’s no Ukraine in the list. But why? Other google APIs can be used in Ukraine, gemini can also be simply downloaded from google play and used, but ai studio can’t
I have no idea why that content isn’t available in your country but IF YOU USE £#@**- VPN cue VPN ad. Seriously there are free vpns that u don’t need to pay for (that’s why it’s called free wow) that u can use I use hide.me VPN but any will do. I used it to access ai studio when it wasn’t available in the uk
and there’s no Ukraine in the list
That is your answer right there.
As to why it isn’t there, it’s due to the regulations of the European Union, which makes any AI product release difficult. Unlike Gemini app, the Studio is far less restricted, as to why Google don’t allow EU users to access it yet.
I would have a hard time trusting a free vpn… it costs money to provide, so who’s paying for me to use it free and why? Just like people put viruses in pirated games and distribute them for free, I’d be worried they were recouping their costs in a way that’s detrimental to the user. But hey, if it’s free and transparent about the money and it all makes sense, go for it. But definitely don’t try a free VPN without understanding where the money comes from…
Imagine, but i tried it, and that’s most likely now how it works, even when registering new account with vpn+tor browser, google knows my region
Ukraine isn’t part of European Union, and all other countries that i checked and are part of EU Union, are allowed to access Gemini API, so atleast do minimal fact check before spreading your misinformation on the internet
A premium tier that u pay for that gives you more features but u can get by on the free tier but yeah if it’s all free don’t trust it
