hi, recently on Brave and Chrome, when i click on a server to connect to via the Nord extension, some background tabs open up (and then get closed by some browser blocker thing). the tabs go to different URLs like apple.us , amazon.pl, google.in, Apple …
i ran windows virus scan and defender scan and nothing came up. i did install 1 or 2 questionable exes the other day, so perhaps it’s not Nord but that. but the only time these tabs present themselves is when i click connect to a Nord server. please help. many thanks.
edit: i did switch to the full application and am no longer getting these background tabs, but i would like to clean my system of whatever it’s got.
Received a response form the Nord team. Once you’re connected to a proxy server, the app checks the connectivity status by pinging one of the high uptime domains. This helps to ensure that connection is live on each server change.
Regarding post removal. Low-effort posts lacking essential info are subject to removal. This has always been our policy and will continue to be.
I’m getting the same issue. Not able to connect and random pop-ups with similar URL’s.
Having the same problem with the browser extension in Chrome on a Mac.
chiming in to say that this also started happening to me and hasn’t been resolved yet. seems to be widespread (tried connecting to different servers all responding same way)
Same deal here. Won’t connect with chrome extension just pops open new tabs with seemingly random tlds. Removed extension and reinstalled, cleared cache, all the usual fixes. This is after updating to the latest version of Sequoia earlier today.
Same here with edge, that issue and when open edge a pop up ask me to login to the Nord server that I try to connect.
I’m having this identical issue rn. I hope they resolve it soon because as of now I can’t use the windows program and have to rely on the extension instead
just noticed this happening to me today on chrome (on mac). so are we in agreement this isn’t some external malware, it’s just nordvpn extension needing update?
