I can’t get it to work. I googled instructions that told me to install sonic Vpn first and then Cisco. I got it installed but Cisco always gives me error 412.
I need to get this to work so I can work remotely. Any help is appreciated

How you installed Cisco client on W10 and how you installed W10? Did you uninstalled Cisco if you upgraded?
On clean install (or uninstalled C and Wx->W10 upgrade) works:
If you’re talking about the ipsec client and not anyconnect, look into using shrewsoft. I’ve heard that works with windows 10.
according to /r/cisco thread here, AnyConnect 3.1.10010 is compatible with windows 10.
1st time posting but I am familiar with the Cisco VPN client on Windows 10 machines.
I installed Cisco VPN 5.0.07.0290-k9 on Windows 10 PC’s yesterday.
Try these steps…
*Uninstall Cisco VPN and any DNE updater Software
*REBOOT
*Download and run Winfix.exe from citrix to cleanup any instances of DNE
*REBOOT
*Download and install SonicVPN 32 bit or 64 bit(should be .msi extension)
*REBOOT
*Install Cisco VPN (.exe failed when I tried, Use .msi setup)
*Open Registry editor in Run prompt
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
CVirtA
Select the Display name to modify
*For x86 Machine, shorten string “@oem8.inf,%CirtA_Desc%;Cisco Systems VPN Adapter” to just “Cisco Systems VPN Adapter”
*For x64 Machine, shorten string “@oem8.inf,%CirtA_Desc%;Cisco Systems VPN Adapter for 64-bit Windows” to just “Cisco Systems VPN Adapter for 64-bit Windows”
*REBOOT
Once you have rebooted your system, the Cisco VPN client software should work without any issues.
Keep us posted!!!
Honestly I just connect through a VM, with my mac, or with shrewsoft if I need the old vpnclient.
I just can’t be annoyed to message around with registry hacks to make it work.
Use any other ikev1 client that’s still supported. Cisco will not support that thing anymore. Sounds like more trouble than it’s worth at this point. Does win10 have a native ikev1 client or is it all ikev2?
I thought that shrew had dns problems on windows 10…

Perhaps this has been resolved?
I have tried these settings like 5 times. Rebooting after each step to make sure I was doing it right. The client is installed but I always get the 412 error.
I have teamviewer. and if anyone can help i’d really appreciate it. or i’d even pay $20 to get it done.
Unfortunately I don’t even know what that means lol.
I know that my work will not work with cisco anyconnect.
Dang no anyconnect. Well Windows 10 doesn’t do ikev1 anymore. Only ikev2 and crappy L2TP/IPSEC. If your head end is an ASA and you’re feelin’ randy, the migration isn’t TOO bad:
You can run ikev1 and ikev2 at the same time for the same tunnel group so this migration “shouldn’t” break anything (just adds the necessary Ikev2 stuff).
On dang I just checked that win10 ikev2 client a bit more. Turns out you can’t specify a group, so you’re probably going to drop into the DefaultRAGroup tunnel-group so you’d have to have ur keys in there and stuff. Might be slightly more involved than just that simple migration thing I linked you to.
Just open a TAC case if you have a contract. We help with these kinds of things all the time.
