Sadly you now have to go all the way into VPN settings within settings to connect to a VPN on Windows 10. There is no longer a taskbar quick connection option.
Has anyone figured out a solution yet?
This really sucks… Now I have to created a Shortcut on the desktops for all my users. Sure it’s easy to do, but the older method was better.
For me the fastest option now seems to be using the keyboard:
- Press Windows Key
- Type vpn
- Press [enter]
- Then use either mouse or [tab] to navigate to “connect” button.
Create shortcut and save to desktop.
C:\Windows\System32\rasphone.exe
Same issue here. You can always create a desktop shortcut, but the taskbar shortcut is a lot more sleek.
That said, I thought I saw a VPN button show up in the system shortcuts area after I set it up and connected, but when I looked for it later couldn’t find so maybe I just hallucinated.
To add or remove quick settings:
- Select the battery, network, or volume icon to open the quick settings panel.
- Right-click on the quick settings panel and select Edit quick settings.
- Select the Add button to add a quick setting or press the pin icon to remove.
then you can add VPN to the quick settings
It’s back now as an optional add in Just found it!
