From time to time we receive questions about Dedicated IP servers, so I decided to put all information in one place. For starters - NordVPN suggests Dedicated IP’ for $80.85 for 15 months or $105.03 for 27 months (FIY! Prices checked on June 10, 2023).
Currently, NordVPN offers Dedicated IP (Static IP) in these locations;
- United States (New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Buffalo, Chicago, Seattle, Miami)
- United Kingdom (London)
- Germany (Frankfurt)
- Netherlands (Amsterdam)
- France (Paris)
- Canada (Toronto)
- Japan (Tokyo)
- Italy (Milan)
- Sweden (Stockholm)
- Australia (Sydney)
- Hong Kong (Hong Kong)
- Switzerland (Zurich)
- Spain (Madrid)
Main benefits of having a dedicated IP:
- You can use it for your job. Static IP is mandatory if there are corporate databases that need to be protected and only accessed by certain people. You can whitelist your IP address so no one else could access these online resources but only you, so with this you can prevent unwanted access to your systems.
- Secure online payments. Making online payments using different IPs or locations each time could trigger your bank and it might block access to your credit card. From my experience, I can tell you that walking through these identity verifications via phone is not the most pleasant experience you can have.
- Guaranteed access to your favorite websites. Not all VPN users have good intentions so if you are using shared VPN IPs - you may not always gain access to your favorite services as someone previously may have abused that website/service using the same IP that you are currently connected to so they added that IP to their blacklist.
- Using a dedicated IP can also help you to avoid CAPTCHAs that are caused by higher web traffic from a single IP address.
If you are wondering, do I need one, for starters, ask yourself these questions:
- Do you want to be secure while working remotely?
- Do you often experience interruptions while browsing with shared IPs?
- Do you encounter constant restrictions on certain online services while connected to shared IPs (eg. online banking)?
If your answers are positive - you should take advantage of the Dedicated IP.
In case you still have doubts, feel free to read through the table below to better understand the importance of a Dedicated IP.
Benefits | Static IP | Shared IP |
---|---|---|
Likely to avoid denylists | Y | N |
Unique | Y | N |
Exclusive to user or website | Y | N |
Allows access to IP-restricted resources | Y | N |
IP hidden from third parties | Y | Y |
Fewer CAPTCHAs and other distractions | Y | N |
Included with NordVPN subscription | N | Y |

Summarizing the info, you have to decide for yourself whether a Dedicated IP will be useful and relevant to you or not.
It would be interesting to know if we have any Dedicated IP owners in our community and if they are satisfied. Perhaps there are additional benefits that you have noticed during your time of use?
