Now that I have a good year and half of playing the game and enjoying it a lot so far, I set myself objectives and try to optimize a bit my game and farming.
For example this event is very important for quartz (for me) since next next GW is dark.
I’ve seen some videos on YT that farm a lot the easier raid with 1 skill.
Which is absolutely impossible for me, but I have to deal with it.
I have roughly 250 ping from EU playing from my phone.
I know people tend to spam very easy fights for max rewards / time
But my loading times can be long and farming little fights gets really frustrating from all this loading.
Have you ever seen other methods to farm efficiently without having awesome ping ?
The title of this discussion is really misleading.
I’d think it was about racing in UBHL/PBHL/GOHL or blue chesting M2 if you’re into that. Where in fact the answer would be either use Mudfish or move to Japan.
If it’s about boxing events the answer is irrelevant to your ping. Everyone farms their 20 boxes the same way. First rinse&repeat VH raids until you have roughly 800 host mats, then use them to clear EX raids. Better ping means you spend less time on the same task. The only people that could optimize setups are those with JP(SEA) ping. Because they can go for non ougi OTK comps to up their clear speed even further.
You could try connecting through a VPN, the most inexpensive and widely used by gbf players of which would probably be mudfish… Though that may or may not reduce your ping in any noticeable way depending on whether from your place there is any efficient rerouting to be done.
In any case, and I say this as a fellow EU player with even higher ping than yours: you can improve your times a lot before having to worry about ping.
I am, or used to be a fairly competitive player. 10k+ meat, 1min nm95 times and 3min nm150 times was my benchmark for every GW, and that was good enough to allow me to be in a very decent crew (top 2k and 4-0 most GWs) even as an almost f2p player.
These times ofc pale in comparison to what you could achieve with jp ping but… even though I don’t want to tell you how to play the game, my heartfelt advice would be to not try to go beyond this if you care about health and just keeping a normal life XD
Don’t focus on one skill if you can’t do it. Go at your own pace and do what you can (if you in a crew and hopefully that is not important to them, that is a bonus for you). I am fine with 3 or so “presses” just doing it as fast as I can with what I have got in the element required at the time. Even with load times giving me a 20 - 30 second run at the completion screen (Ex+ dummy for example as a tester).
If you want to improve ping and if you don’t have one, the best would be a VPN - some who use might be able to say if it is a NOTICEABLE difference.
Playing on phone is generally just worse than PC unless you have a real potato. Get stronger to where you can do those 0-1 button setups, then it only takes a few hours every event.
As a EU player there are only a few options to increase your efficiency.
Obvious one is play on PC where you can.
Mudfish:
A cheap VPN application. Connect to mudfish nodes until you find one which routes your traffic from Europe to Japan, via Russia.(reducing it to ~180ms or so, generally the Tencent Moscow nodes, or a bunch in Vladivostok do the trick).
vps:
If you want to increase your efficiency more, by reduce your ping, for ie 0 button setups. Your only option is to go with a vps (In Tokyo). Pick up one from GCP using free credits, or AWS. Your graphical performance and input lag is going to be disastrous, but your refreshes will be instant. It’s a lot more expensive than mudfish, but not as bad as option #3.
vps with a graphical card:
If you want to have an actual somewhat proper ‘Japan-like’ experience, ie for fights where you need to press skills, long solo’s, or for many hours of play in GW with 1-2 button setup, then you will have to get a vps with a graphical card, such as the g4.ad vps from AWS tokyo. These run, including the windows license and tax, at around a dollar per hour.You’ll need to do some tuning as well, get the correct drivers, RDP client, etc, I’ll probably make a guide out of this at one point; but you’re essentially paying a lot more money to play a gambling game on a similar level as a random person playing on his phone in a train in Japan.
I play this game from EU as well, have around 280ping too. I’ve played for 4 years and noticed that I just can’t keep up with JP players. That’s why I just gotta put in hours if I want even close to 1b individual honors. Some GWs I can 2 button ex+, some GWs I can 0 button ex+, it’s all the same really it’s not really what happens in the game (I mean sure the skill activations take 3-5 times the time as they do in JP) but the black loading screens in between. I’d just say, make your grids and characters be as amazing as you can, lower your buttons in OTKs and make good FA teams where you can safely FA nm100s and nm150s, watch netflix and profit at the end of the GW.
If you have all 10 eternals, a developed grid and huanglong summon set as main, you can make a 0 click kill on the easiest boss. Only input required is activating auto combat during the load screen
Puffin incognito is good choice, thing is with integrated VPN and you can quite realistically have a chance.
Several major cons to note tho.
No raid finder, you can’t copy any type of text, so that’s already a major concern if you want to farm something specific.
If you want to host something you can’t request support through Twitter, idfk why just gives error message and reload page.
Audio lag and animation lag, they will be choppy as fuck, so just mute it.
(Con?) Browser is defaulted to desktop style page view.
Have to log in any time you close app.
But there are positives, very fast reloading, maybe not as good as jp ping, but you definitely can spam it for the win. And also very convenient for things like OTK or just farming like halos or slime blasting.
Without VPN my ping was even worse (~280) and to be honest it doesn’t really change much. Super low button auto-attack OTKs are pretty RIP at this point (I think you can still get a very slightly advantage with them but the added stress doesn’t make it worth it anymore.)
But something like 0-1 btn VH kill spam should still be feasible, if your loading times are really that long then it might be an issue with your phone or internet rather than just your ping, ping doesn’t make THAT much of a difference. Maybe a couple seconds longer but that’s it. (GBF is surprisingly poorly optimized, my old laptop was decent enough to run stuff like Tekken 7 but when I changed to my new PC I noticed that GBF load times became significantly faster.)
The alternative of spamming VH and EX for best time is to spam VH (because you do need the host mats whatever you wanna do) and then FAing Impossible, it’s slower but more AP and token efficient (aka less time in the VH mines too!) but it does require you to interact with the game for much longer (but since it is FA and the fights are quite long you can easily do a lot of stuff on the side).
I know some people can’t really do long FA sessions but those are your only alternatives so pick your poison. You can also check into alternative sources of quartz: do your daily Celeste and Celeste HL at least, the monthly 200 dark quartz from pendants, reduce premium summons you got that are useless.
I’m indeed not asking to use a 1 skill OTK grid
But yeah, you are confirming that spamming fast and easy fights is always better for the rewards than spamming the longer and harder ones.
Which sucks from my POV because it should be equal xD.
Harder fights should at least be as rewarding as the little ones so better grids could complete them while beginners could focus on the easier ones and still farm decents rewards

Yeah I am also fine with doing my best.
It just feels frustrating to do 1 box per hour (arbitrary number) while some other guys can do 4 or 5 with little to no loading time xD
Yeah NA has better ping than EU on paper, but for GW the timezone can still be a hindrance. So depending on your personal schedule, EU region might still be better for your specific needs.
The obvious winners here are the japanese. Best ping and day long access to GW. Imagine that level of comfort.
If you’re talking about this event, you can’t do the harder fights unless you can do the easier fights. I mean, impossible is, unfortunately, currently worse than EX in terms of time efficiency, but you’re going to be stuck spamming VH either way.
If you’re talking about U+F, the honors rewards actually do make NM90-150 preferable to EX+, generally speaking, but for boxing it’s the other way around. Which is good for newbies in U+F.
