Just a heads up if anyone comes across it, just spent a very long time working out why Forticlient VPN (using current live download version, i think tis 7.4.x) would not function on two separate Lenovo PCs (one old one brand new) when the same details and version work across our HP fleet. Current VPN client version would sit at Connecting and never go anywhere, IPSEC L2TP and SSL. This error would be in GUI_1_error.log - “guimessenger 238 error failed to open shared memory. GLE=2”
Installing Forticlient VPN 7.0.x fixed the issue immediately for all VPN types. No idea what it is about the Lenovos that causes this, we removed all bloatware on both and as they are outside our fully supported fleet we’re not looking any further. Hope this helps someone though.
Same, not sure about the error I had but FortiClient 7.4 would just hang at “connecting”. Downgraded to the old 7.0 which I had an offline installer for and it worked straight away.
Big thanks to the everyone who posted here. The Google Drive link still works for 7.0.x Fortinet issue still exists. Downgrading FortiClient worked 100%.
Lenovo W11 with 7.4.1.x trying to connect to some FG200’s. Tried adding Visual Client like in the Fortinet support forums. Made no difference. VPN has no issue otherwise for Linux, Mac, or Web based access.
Did Fortinet ever fix this? Was this also the update where if you installed RSAT it would break FortiClient?
how can i find the old version 7.0? i have the same issue
Could you send me the offline installer about 7.0? Please I’ve trying everything
log in to the fortinet support and you’ll find the old versions there under FortiClient
I am trying to log in and it never sends the verification code UGH Fortinet is NOT okay Why can they not fix known issues in their latest versions?
