So recently there have been issues with a game I play, League of Legends, concerning high ping spikes and packet loss.
Some people more intelligent that I have figured out that the problem is in the connections with certain ISPs, and that a VPN is a good band aid fix for the problem on the user end.
I’ve been reading about VPN services and trying to figure out which one is best for me. But i’ve read about trojan horses being in updates, pseudo permanent programs that are hell to uninstall, and annoying ads throughout their use of the service.
Do you guys have any suggestions?
a paid vpn works best. free may be too slow, disconnect frequently and/or block tcp/ip ports for your gaming needs. reddit geeks recommend PIA (privateinternetaccess.com) for $3.33 per month when paying for one year. I use pia to game and noticed when connecting to my closest server US East my ping only went up by 10. So, gaming on pia is definitely great. I have no issues playing fps.
