Google VPN is awful

It’s awful in literally every setting. Home WiFi, public WiFi, and mobile. It keeps disconnecting and then you have no internet for 40secs to 2 minutes while it reconnects. It happens habitually, multiple times per hour. Watching videos randomly kicks down to 240p or below and then randomly halts while the VPN tries to reconnect.

I turn it off, everything is smooth. I turn it on, everything literally becomes a pain.

If it was free, I wouldn’t be complaining, but I’m paying for this service through Fi. Fix your shit or fuck off and don’t offer it as a service.

Never had a single issue with it.

I’m using it for free and it works perfect for me.

I have yet to have an issue and I have it on 24/7

What phone do you have? Thought its free for Pixel 7?

It’s so good for me I forget it’s on.

VPNs have a limited bandwidth. If too many people are on at once and/or doing activities that use a lot of bandwidth (like streaming hi def movies or videos) the vpn service will start to act like you describe.

I had a similar thing happen to my work VPN and the IT department had to put me on a different server for a different area of the country in order for me to be able to get work done.

I wouldn’t call it awful but I didn’t buy it for my service that has the VPN included for my entire family useless.

Only don’t work for me on my pixel 7 pro. It kicks me off the internet after about 10 minutes and I have to toggle it on and off for it to reconnect. Works fine on my PC and iPad

You pay for Fi which includes the VPN, you don’t pay extra for it…

Yeah it’s weird I randomly have connection issues, cellular and Wi-Fi, Pixel and iphone (so can’t necessarily blame Tensor). Turn it off and no issues. However, I’ve had no issues on my iPad.

Something in your setup. Works great for me. I’m on it 24x7.

Nah…works fine. Been using it for 2 yrs on many different devices.

I’ve had it on for months on my Pixel 7 pro in Australia ,no issues at all. Speed is reduced by like 5% but no effect on day to day usage.

OP, I had this issue previously and it was basically poor fibre cabling at my property.

Try turning off VPN for an extended period of time (like a week) and seeing if it is still an issue. It might be a different issue but is just made worse by VPN.

What I love most is that it breaks Android Auto

i just started having issues with it on my PC’s and phone. when the vpn is turned on i do not have internet. i have to turn it off then turn it back on to get internet working. this is new and until now i have had no issues with it.

My issue with the G1 VPN is that it causes YouTube playback to stop working when I press the home button to turn off the home screen (so when the phone is in my pocket), I can still listen and multitask without it bouncing around in my pocket and accidentally tapping things on the screen.

I have YouTube premium, and so I am supposed to be able to turn the display off without the playback stopping.

Mine works fine. I’m irritated. They’re getting rid of it

Yop! I stopped using it. Rather stay with the FI Network vpn. It works better.
