Does unifi offer a device that would allow me to have a site-to-site vpn back to my home network while I’m traveling? I’m thinking it would be hard wired to the hotel Ethernet and broadcast a private WiFi signal that my devices could always be connected to. The only thing I’m aware of that might do this is the dream machine.

Is there a particular reason you need it to be hardware based? You might check out https://tailscale.com/ to achieve this with software only.
You don’t need site to site VPN. I have a VPN setup on my UDM:SE at the house and then connect the VPN on my windows 10 PC. You could also get THIS - I have this when I travel for other things then VPN connectivity. It should work connecting HOME to the device and then you have a little router that you can connect all your devices to. If you give me some time I can see if the VPN connects to the UNIFI backbone before you buy, unless someone already have this device and has tested.
You can buy a GL.inet travel router. OpenVPN performance is pretty limited, but it works well for that application.
I’m thinking it would be hard wired to the hotel Ethernet
Not sure what country you’re planning on using this in, but from numerous years as a road warrior I can count the number of US hotels that had an ethernet connection on the fingers one hand and still have enough left to give both “the bird” and the Churchill salute.
You could make one with a RPI or similar breadboard pc.
Carrying a Dream Machine with you can be a pain. And if you dont have a hardwired Connection but only wifi it Could get tricky. As a User already commented earlier, I would take a Raspi to do this. There propably are some projects in the Internet for exactly your question.
I wanted hardwire as an option at least since I find the WiFi in public places to be spotty at best.
Edit: sorry, I misread your response. I wanted it to be HARDWARE based since running the vpn client on my phone drains the battery faster, and it disconnects once my phone goes to sleep. I want something that, as long as I’m in range of the WiFi network, I’m connected to home over a secure tunnel.
This is exactly the type of setup I had in mind, thanks!
Yeah, dude just needs a travel router.
I hadn’t considered a rpi but that’s an excellent suggestion - also like that it’s open source!
I’d still say give Tailscale a look!
It’s free and would offer you the remote access you need while on any connection, not just the one in your hotel room.
I’m not sure if the VPN disconnecting on sleep is a service-specific or app-level thing or OS-level? Seems really disruptive! I’m on iOS and Tailscale stays connected all day and with minimal battery impact - but if your primary use case is in the room you would be able to charge easily?
Tailscale can be used like a traditional VPN using their exit node feature, but it’s primarily about creating a secure mesh network regardless of how you’re connected to the net.
