As before, this didn’t work. I’ve been back and forth with my boss, and the latest is he’s going to open up a support ticket.
Glad to hear you solved it.
Edit: I can’t find the 7.2.3 installation file and it’s starting to drive me nuts. I see it talked about in the Fortinet doc library but can’t find the actual file. I redownloaded the VPN installer but it installs 7.2.2.0776. But the documentation says there’s an installation file with 7.2.3 in the name but I can’t find it.
Thanks for this link. I’m not sure where to download 7.2.3 but I’ll see what I can do. I re-downloaded the installer file so maybe that will do it.
I think our issues have almost always been more on Apple’s side than anything.
But this is not a new device. Specifically it’s a Mac Air Pro laptop, and I’ve been using it for a couple of months now (had to replace one) with no problem until last week. And the problem started before I tried to upgrade FortiClient. Being unable to connect was why I did this in the first place.
I’d be happy to try a new QR code though so I’ll ask my supervisor.
Sorry m8. I tried for ya
It seems Like the online Installer download link was not updated. It got our installation files through the support portal, which needs a customer Login. Which Version do you need? (ZTNA, VPN only). I may bei able to get you the correct download link (from fortinet, no illegal distribution).
Gotcha. It’s still possible something went out of whack on your phone. It’s not MacBook related.
And much appreciated!
I only need/use the VPN.
I have just been on with their tech support, but no progress has been made. My credentials are correct, various other things are correct, but I cannot connect. I was able to connect on my phone using the phone app, but it didn’t really help anything. The tech support person I spoke with didn’t think 7.2.3 would make a difference but I guess it couldn’t hurt.
I will ask him to send me a new code. Honestly if that fixes it, I’d be thrilled. I’m going to reinstall one more time and then see if that helps.
Sorry, is was a little to slow getting you the link.
Please also check the permissions for the client:
https://docs.fortinet.com/document/forticlient/7.2.3/macos-release-notes/223986/special-notices
Another option is to have the codes emailed to you as a test. Sometimes for whatever reason Fortitoken cloud is delayed. I’ve seen this issue with users that travel, or if they have intermittent ISP issues.
Thanks. I was able to get the file, but it was because my boss and I did a zoom call with their tech support and he sent the file so I could download it. Unfortunately it didn’t work.
He did send me a new QR code, which I used, but it still doesn’t work. I tried multiple times, and two things happen. Either I don’t connect, but there’s no error message; or, I don’t connect but I receive an error message that says “Login failed. Two-factor authentication failed.”
And after about 8-10 tries, it says login failed, insufficient credentials. Which i figure means I tried too many times unsuccessfully.
For the record, I have also cleared my DNS cache, and tried logging with my Firewall down just to see what happens (it’s back up now).
Please also check the app permissions as per the Link in my last comment. I spoke with a MacOS Guy at Work and Missing permissions cause all sorts of seemingly unconnected havoc with Forticlient.
Wait about 15-30 min and try again after confirming your AD account is not locked. There’s a back off period on the firewalls, otherwise you’ll be trying endlessly with fail.
Change the token delivery to email and manually enter the codes and see if that helps
It’s been a while so I’ll try again. I don’t know if I can change the token delivery. Or more accurately, I don’t know how.
Update: my boss is having people open a ticket for support. We’ll see how that goes.
Gotcha. You can also press the eye icon in the ftk mobile app to view the tokens and manually type them into FortiClient. The delivery method would be changed by the admin on the ftk cloud portal…
That’s what I do, sorry I didn’t make that clear. I open FortiClient on my computer and enter my password, then am prompted for a token, which I get from the FortiToken app on my phone. I then enter that token into the field on my computer.
