Help! Uploads not working with qBittorrents and HideMe Premium VPN. Thanks!

Hi, I’m trying to get my uploads working with the HideMe Premium VPN using qBittorrent on Windows 10. Downloads are working fine, but uploads only work if the VPN is turned off and StealthGuard is turned off.

I am using the following settings while attempt to upload using the VPN:

HIDEME:

- version 3.17.0

- StealthGuard with qBittorrent bound

- in-app Port Forwarding activated and limited to qBittorrent

- Kill Switch on

QBITTORRENT:

- version v4.6.4 (64-bit)

- proxy server SOCKS5 on socks.hide.me @ 1080

- “perform hostname lookup via proxy” ENABLED

- “use proxy for peer connections” ENABLED

- “DHT” DISABLED

- “Peer Exchange” DISABLED

- “Local Peer Discovery” DISABLED

I have also tied without the port forwarding or almost any other permutation of settings enabled or disabled. I have not found suitable guidance on HideMe’s site.

You confirmed port was open and reachable? https://canyouseeme.org/

If I had to guess I’d assume SOCKS5 is getting in the way. Disable it, and port-forwarding should work.

You should also enable DHT/PeX.

Hmm. Am noob. Not sure about the open port. I don’t know what I don’t know.

Those settings are from following hideme’s guide to safely torrent without exposing my IP. Is disabling socks safe? Is enabling those other settings safe? Thank you for any further guidance?

Disabling SOCKS5 is safe as long as you’ve binded which you have.
