I have avast and Private Internet Access VPN. When i disconnect from the VPN or change location avast gives be 14-18 notifications of threat detected?

Im using PIA vpn service and when i change location / connect / Disconnect i get 14-18 “threat detected” notifications from avast.

They are all blocking MalURL. I’ve followed the malware and virus removal posted here and it removed several infections. But even after that im getting the notifications…and if you have avast you will understand my pain of hearing “THREAT DETECTED!” 14 times screamed in your ear.

Anyone have similar issues or know a fix?

I’ve never used Avast! so I’m not sure if it keeps logs. Does it tell you exactly what it’s trying to block? Is there a log you can pull up and take a look at? Sounds like it could be a DNS issue, but there are other possibilities as well. What are you using for VPN?

Hello DrShadyBusiness;

While the VPN is running (not necessarily connected, but at least running in your taskbar,) our system does by default try to direct you to the least congested server at the time by taking advantage of Ping and Latency tests. This way when you go to connect to the VPN it will connect you to the server that will provide you stable connections. If you add the VPN as an added exception to your security software you shouldn’t receive any more notifications.

Can you try adding an exception for our client to your Avast software please? Depending on the version of Avast that you are using to add the VPN as an exception, first open Avast (Double Click on the Avast icon in the system tray )
Select the Real-Time Shields tab.

In the right pane click on the “Expert Settings” button

In the dialog that opens up select the “Exclusions” tab.

In the right pane, (on an empty line) click on the Browse button and select the folder of your choice.

There are several other options that can be activated: that is, in what circumstances the exclusions shall be applied (Read,Write, Excecute…etc, these are optional)

Finally click on the “Add”" button . (Note that a new line shall then be available for you to add another exclusion)

The folder you want to exclude is pia_manager and it is located at C:\Program Files\pia_manager
