I recently canceled my VPN subscription, and I am trying to remove it from my computer. It will not budge. Does anyone have any advice on how to remove it from my computer without reinstalling Windows completely?

I have tried killing the process VPN.Worker.exe in Task manager and it does not stay gone for long and so I am unable to delete the bin file in Program Files. I have tried using Revo Uninstaller and ioBit Uninstaller to completely get rid of it, neither of them has succeeded. Getting rid of the VPN in registry also does not allow me to remove it. Does anyone have any idea on how to get rid of this VPN?

What’s the app’s name? And why did you not try uninstalling it from Apps and Features?

Can you actually tell us the program name?

Have you tried safe mode? You might have an easier time deleting files if they aren’t allowed to run in the first place.

It would be a lot more helpful if you’d let us know who your VPN provider was.

At this point, it’s like you asking us to help you figure out what kind of oil your car needs, but you don’t give us a model number or manufacturer name.

Revo uninstaller, free download and it’s good

Hello! Would just like to ask how were you able to post? Mine was automatically removed by mods (prolly due to the holiday break and all).

Thanks!

Fresh install of the OS. Sounds like it’s time to start fresh.

I’m sure there are ways to stop the Service from running, but a fresh install is just good maintenance on a system once and a while.

Does it automatically start back up whenever you kill the service? See if it appears in Task Scheduler. Task scheduler automates a whole lot of processes - you might be able to find out what’s triggering it from there. You’ll likely need to do a lot of digging around to actually find it though.

Revo Uninstaller should be helpful here.

Windows should have their own uninstaller pre-installed. Literally just open it, choose the vpn, and hit uninstall. There may be an “are you sure” popup, but it should get rid of it completely.

how about windows uninstall troubleshoot tool or does the vpn software has its own uninstaller that could be used?

Just tell us the name of the VPN. No need to hide it.

found this excerpt

The Worker.exe Miner is a Trojan that utilizes a victim’s computer resources to mine for digital currency called Monero. When installed, it will create an autorun called Google Updater that launches a program called cherry.exe

who did u buy it off, what is the url of the website you got it from

how many antivirus are you running and when you scan the client, what is the result ?

Revo uninstaller will remove it.

If not, search the application name with Everything by Voidtools to make sure it’s gone.

In CMD:

wmic product where “name like ‘???%%’” call uninstall /nointeractive

Change the 5 questions marks to whatever VPN so example ‘nord%%’

Will force a restart once done

Some put hooks in the network card driver. Download a good one from the manufacturer, boot to safe mode, remove NIC, and reinstall from the device manager and good driver.

The holy days ended at 5 am this morning.

Why is a fresh install now and then good maintenance?

i wonder what this is, perhaps control panel, or the app section in windows settings. I rly cannot tell if your being sarcastic.

It’s not. Hasn’t been for about 10 years.
