IPVanish “No-Logging” VPN Led Homeland Security to Comcast User
Just to clarify, I made a grammatical error in that post. IPVanish absolutely does log, and everything I said in the post is true (I just should’ve said false instead of true in those bold words).
I can tell by the downvotes I sounded like a complete shill. I hope this clarifies the misunderstanding.
IPVanish is a crap company. Do not trust any review for any VPN, especially the ones on blogs and that have affiliate links.
Any recommendations on a good VPN?
I can confirm, I’ve dealt with IPVanish personally. They’re a large company based in the US (Orlando, FL) and will obviously cooperate with LE.
Not only that, but their no logging claim is FALSE. I can say that as a fact, and have known for many years.
There are so many positive reviews on VPN and privacy blogs solely because of their affiliate program. They have plenty of marketers working with those blogs/websites. This also applies to most other VPNs.
This info comes from common knowledge and, let’s say, other knowledge. The fact that they have ties with gov agencies cooperating with Comcast does not surprise me. Do not use IPVanish.
Edit: Not sure if they’re still based in Orlando due to the company change, but they still are a large registered corporation in the US and they do logs, and have logged for years.
Mullvad is well respected on here
IVPN is really solid.
There’s a good list of options on this page.
I had a good experience with vpn.ac, almost getting native bandwidth.
Private Internet Access was subpoenaed by the FBI and proven to not keep logs
You contradict yourself.
Do they do logs, or do they not?
You say the no logging claim is true then later you say they have logged for years, which is it ?
I know people will go “OMG BUT IT’S A US COMPANY,” but that’s really just only one downside. Most companies around the world will gladly cooperate with US authorities and most countries will gladly do so as well, so let’s not pretend that being out of the US means you’ve got huge protections.
Sorry, that was an incredibly stupid mistake. I meant to say FALSE.
I was trying to give some insider info on this. IP Vanish does log and has logged for a very long amount of time.
