IPVanish Update Broke My VPN

Hey, yall. The software IPVanish recently came out with an update to the software, so I decided it was a good idea to update that. I was running the software when it prompted me and everything was fine and working as intended.

After downloading and installing the new update (while the software was still running), I’m no longer able to connect to any of the servers. UDP and TCP both act the same. I will choose a server, hit connect. It does the usual “Connecting to XXXXXXX” then “Initiating/Configuring VPN.” However, it then disconnects and gives the message “Disconnected: Not Secure IP Address: XX.XXX.XXX.XX.”

I’ve put in a support ticket with them and haven’t yet heard back, so I figured I’d give you good people the opportunity to help me out. Any ideas? Anyone with a similar issue? Thanks!

you may need to uninstall it’s client AND all your TAP adapters.
something similar happened to me with an ibVPN client update.
then do a fresh client install which will reestablish new TAPs.

Well, turns out I was forced to uninstall the TAP network drivers then uninstall the application. Reboot and reinstall the software (which installs the TAP drivers). Everything is back on the up and up. Kind of a pain in the butt as nobody had a solution for 2 hours before another user posted on the IPVanish forums and pointed to the solution.

On a side note, what’s the big deal behind storing usernames and passwords? So they have a username and password - that can’t exactly be traced back to any one person…?
