Asking for my girlfriend who’s in Ukraine and has been getting news that chats and calls might be monitored by Russians. I read some news a few days ago that said it was possible to get a free premium VPN for a year but I can’t seem to find them anymore
Proton is free and good but limited servers to choose from.
Happy to pay for a vpn subscription if your girlfriend needs it??
I’d argue that there’s nothing that’s “free”. I can highly recommend NordVPN or Mullvad (preferred), both are a paid subscription but during these times I would not cheap out on keeping your communication secure and bulletproof.
Stay safe!
As someone who got burned on the sharp point of US immigration. You will discover that Greencards are a unicorn for people from Ukraine without needed qualifications. They have recently allowed temporary TPS visas. But those expire and then they get deported when the origin country is safe.
www.ovpn.com offers free VPN to Ukraine. When I did a review, I saw a message on the top of the page.
As internet provider worker, I can affirm that internet traffic nobody “sniff”. I mean cable providers. But Iam unsure about mobile networks (voice calls and sms).

Might be what you were thinking of? They are a reputable Finnish company.
Pay for windscribe. I think it was one or two euros a month. And it’s a monthly payment so you can cancel it when you want.
Weren’t all Proton servers blocked in Russia in 2020 after they refused to turn over info to Putin?
Thank you my friend but it will not be necessary as I found the VPN service I was looking for. They’re covered for 6 months, afterwards I should be able to help them with another service
Definitely, I agree. I am safe in Europe, my girlfriend is the one in Ukraine :(. Thank you for your comment.
She’s legal in the country I am in, she went back because an older relative of hers got very weak with Covid and needed support. Sadly, this was right before the war began. Her relative got better but now it’s rather dangerous to try to leave.
Nobody taps circuits? I don’t want to break your balls, but that is complete bullshit. Tapping is happening on essentially every cross-border cable system and to some extent on strategical interconnect points.
Only because you don’t notice it, doesn’t mean it happens.

Thank you so much. This is what I was looking for. It worked!
I’ll keep it in mind once the F-Secure subscription runs out. I really appreciate your suggestion
Depending on your internet connection, you could setup a VPN at home that she’s could connect to running on your computer, or a raspberry pi or something.
Glad to hear it. It didn’t pan out for me. She had no tertiary skills. Was put with 8.8 million others on green card lottery. Last 8 years got lost on a lost cause.
Yeah I think he’s used to peaceful borders where people you use VPNs for are random hackers in an internet cafe.
100% any communication line civilian or military anywhere near Russian occupied territory is hardware tapped
