Issue with Bitdefender

I am using Nextdns on my browser and system wide in Windows 11. I also have Bitdefender AV installed. Now Bitdefender always seems to detect nextdns connections as suspicious and tries to block it. Even connections of dns0.eu (created by Nextdns founders) are deemed suspicious or website certificate is detected as expired or non trustworthy. Is there a reason for this ?

Are you sure that both domains don’t have any typos? Dns0.eu is marked as Porn website by Nextdns itself. Check spelling again

It is correct, it is blocked in error by Nextdns’ own pr0n blocklist lol

I have both on my windows 11 pc and don’t seem to have issues. I do notice Bitdefender has its own online threat protection enabled by default which was causing some issues for me. I had to disable some of the options under online threat detection.

What happens in my case (I think) is e.g. when enabling Facebook-Filters upon blocking https://www.facebook.com the certificate of the block page is something like blockpage.nextdns.io. Bitdefenders “encrypted web scan” complains then about an untrusted certificate. Disabling the web scan does no longer show a Bitdefender blocking page. Although I do not really want to disable the web scan. So I disabled block page feature from NextDNS again.

This is a free dns developed by NextDns founders themselves

Lol… But even NextDns connections are blocked by Bitdefender…

Did you check the notifications in Bitdefender? Was it blocking nextdns urls/domains? What I did was not turn off the online threat detection features but just put nextdns domain in exceptions.

Here it is

Result from NextDNS

Seems wrong categorised by nextdns self.

I’m an not up to date with Bitdefender, but is there an internet- or browserfilter you can disable, just to see if it makes any difference?

It was not blocking NextDNS domains/urls. My issue with that feature was unrelated to NextDNS. It was blocking connections to certain sites that had security certificate issues even though it’s a legit site.

Huh, good point, do have some extensions… Will try to disable them and see
