I’m so sick and tired of getting “Webpage not avaliable” or “This site can’t be reached” whenever I’m connecter to ExpressVPN. It used to be only a minor annoyance, now it’s a bigger issue and it just keeps getting worse! I’m so sick of having to stop my VPN, just to access this damn websites!
I think it’s more of a general VPN issue not specific to ExpressVPN. I know my bank redid their website and online banking and blocked VPNs. I know I complained to the branch manager. There must have been a lot of complaints because after about a week, they no longer were blocking VPNs.
Don’t use Chrome. Use Firefox or Safari or Opera.
Yeah, Amazon Prime is denying me from TNF on my firestick for having the temerity to be running ExpressVPN myself right now…
I keep looking for resources on this and can’t find anything useful. WTF is going on with Chrome and ExpressVPN? I’d really prefer not to switch to those other browsers, but it’s also a pain having to keep turning off the VPN, or sit there idly while I wait for the page to time out, and then magically just work the second time.
Go to settings-> Advanced protection and turn off that thing.
I had a ticket open at their HelpDesk. They couldn’t help, “exhausted all methods”, so it got closed .
So stuck with countless page refreshed to make video players work.
I’m using a phone. Would that also apply to that?
Thanks, seems to be a chrome specific issue.
This must have been a recent change at Amazon. I’ve been up and running on the VPS for months but only noticed that the Prime Video app (on an Apple TV) was refusing to play anything and had a message directing me to a webpage that basically says that Amazon won’t work with a VPN. I changed my router so that the VPN is disabled for the Apple TV and the problem went away, but…it’s still disappointing.
I’m not seeing anything like that.
Ah, this is the first I have read of that perhaps being the problem… I’m not sure the ins and outs of that particular feature, or what it does and how, despite having used ExpressVPN for years…
I will give that a toss… thanks for the info…
Well on your phone…how do you access websites?
Oh that sucks. I haven’t used my Apple TV in awhile, but I’m in the Apple Ecosystem with iPhones and MacBook Pro’s etc, and I haven’t had that issue with those products and Amazon with ExpressVPN yet, or much noticeably… I use my firestick all day long abroad streaming Stateside news and whatnot, … I’d be real bummed if that started getting shut down a lot more… I’m abroad most of the time so I kinda rely on the VPN’s geolocation beating, hell, even for doctors appointments etc…
It’s not an Apple problem, per se, it’s an issue with Amazon. Some other services are getting a bit persnickety about VPN usage. I rarely use the Fire Stick but don’t recall it having the same issue, it might be restricted to the Prime Video app.
oh yeah, I agree, as it’s on a per app basis, and it seems a lot are getting a little bit persnickety with known VPN addresses and whatnot…
One workaround, turned off the VPN for the device, started playback, turned the VPN back on, and everything works. I suspect that the apps only check for VPNs at the time that they initially load.
