Line app does not work on mobile data, only WiFi. Anyone have a fix?

Hi all. It seems like after this last update, Line does not work on mobile data… only WIFI! This is a big problem because I have been using line for years as my main form of communication. I have talked to friends and it seems like this is only happening on the android version of LINE but not iOS. I am on a s21 ultra and i have verified that its the same on my friends s20 and note.

Anyone have any luck with fixing this? So far I have reinstalled, marked LINE for not using battery optimization, reset all network settings, cleared cache…

Thank you!

edit: seems like many are having the same problem on the play store

confirmed on s20. using vpn sometimes triggers communication…

Well I just made a long post about this with all the information I could find to resolve it not realizing this post was here.

Also on Samsung S21 Ultra, also since an update late May. It is incredibly bad timing overall and I have gotten nothing from Line on this one. If they really cannot recreate they should just try it on any Samsung device.

For the record I am a Mobile Engineer and Developer and I know recreating defects can be difficult, but when there is this much smoke with it mostly being on Samsung devices, there is a fire and they can actually test this. I had my own Development team recreate this issue in our test bed easily. So it is without a doubt a real issue.

I’m having this issue too. I contacted LINE support and after about a week of back and forth, they told me they couldn’t replicate the problem and said there’s nothing they could do.

I’m having this issue too!! I have a galaxy s20 fe and even on wifi I’ve been having a lot of issues of messages not sending (especially bad on cellular) and its driving me crazy! please lemme know if you hear anything or if anything gets resolved, and I’ll update if I find a fix!

Same issue here. It’s been going on for a couple of weeks now. Galaxy S21 Ultra. It sucks because I’m learning Chinese and depend on LINE to communicate with my language partners in Taiwan. What I’ve ended up doing for now is to download an older .apk, delete the updated app, and install the older version (I’m using the May 9th version). Everything works fine, and I’ve turned off auto-update until LINE patches this annoying issue.

Been having same issue on TMobile with s21 Samsung , reset phone, uninstall app can send out a few messages then the error happens again. Only when I’m on wifi the issue does not happen. When I’m on mobile data I can’t send messages. I get notification of receiving messages but can’t see them. This is frustrating

Having this issue on IPhone 14 Pro.

Bonjour, moi aussi j’ai un iPhone 11 je n’arrive pas à me connecter sur Line et quand je mets mon numéro de téléphone il m’envoie pas de SMS ni de code. J’habite en France. J’aimerais bien que le système soit amélioré.

Just update your google play system in the phone settings. I was having the same issues, but after updating this. It was fixed. I have a samsung s21÷

Oh wow… I’m glad pro’s have confirmed this problem! I’ll take a look at your post. Thanks!

Sort of hard to believe when there are so many people complaining about it! What phone are you using?

Right! Ok thanks! Will do.

Ooo! By any chance do you have the link for the app? Ty!

Area to update on my samsung s21+ phone was:

Settings–about phone–software information

Then tap on the google play system update area and it triggered an update which fixed it.

Yes we tested this on US Based S21+, Ultra and on Samsung A21 and all show this behavior but inconsistently. Also it showed primarily on T-Mobile and Verizon for us. However I think the network itself is nothing more than a red herring and unrelated.

What I do not know for sure if it happens to other devices but to lesser extent. I was unable to recreate this on HTC phones, LG phones, or 2 generations of Google Pixel. Also unable to recreate on Samsung S10 or S20 but others have noted those phones/notes have issues.

So far I’ve come to the same conclusion as you. It seems like Samsung phones are having this issue. I’m using a Samsung Note 20 Ultra. All my friends with a Samsung is having problems, while anyone on iOS is not having issues.

I’ve also tried all your fixes with no luck. So I’ve just resorted to using Discord as my chat program for the time being. I really would like to continue using LINE but its just not usable at all.

I found a collection of older versions at APK Mirror. However, after it working with no problems for a few days, I did end up running into the issue again this morning. It took a couple of restarts to start sending messages again. So your mileage may vary with this method.

did anyone else try this method and did it work? same with me on my samsung note 20

I turned off my battery optimization setting and that seems to have improved. Its actually sending messages now! I will update more if it stops working again
