I am a bit confusing by the wording of the this setting on the iOS app. the setting is called “local network discovery” so the wording suggests that it being on means that you are discoverable. However the description once you enter the option seems to suggest otherwise.
Which one is the secure setting? on or off? in particular I am connecting to the internet through a university network that assigns non RFC1918 IP addresses and I read this feature mitigates the security issues with this.
thanks in advance! I think the wording of the setting is confusing. I attach a couple of screen captures to illustrate

You’re exactly right. Enabling it would mean you become discoverable. Nord has a blog post about this if you need more details. When it comes to using their product on a university network - if you’re having trouble getting connected, you might also wanna change to UDP + Obfuscated servers (and disable Threat Protection if need be).
