It seems around a few hours ago they started enforcing this hard, as without a VPN set to japan all games are blocked with a “This content is not available in your region”. Before it seemed to only affect a very small number of people, possibly due to certain countries, but now it seems to be worldwide.
I thought this was already worldwide as It affected me from the beginning, but I guess I was just unlucky. lol
Anyway, it doesn’t really matter as long as my VPN still works, I’m a huge fan of tower defense games, so I play all three of their tower defense games.
Hate to break it to you, this didn’t happen a few hours ago. Its been like this for ages now for most people, not just a small amount.
Been experiencing it for atleast 2 months now with AS. I can still use it with VPN to Japan and somehow Poland??? So yeah, annoying but that’s what we get for not having native PC port of the game.

Been gaming using the DMM desktop app since 2017 with absolutely no issue. Try to logon this morning to play DOAXVV and it says I can’t login due to services not available in my region. They finally got me, boys. The region locks seem to be cleaning up those they didn’t catch before. Using a VPN every time I want to logon is annoying, but I have too many girls unlocked on the DMM version, and the Steam version is still playing catch up.
EDIT: Just downloaded OPENVPN and used UMAVPN pro to download a low ping profile for DMM. It took seconds to set up and activate, and it works perfectly. Now I’m back on DMM and playing DOAXVV.

I have multiple accounts on DMM, and it was indeed last July (2023) that they started this hard block fest which prevents you from accessing the DMM GAMES site outside of Japan (beside already having had their games region blocked for years, though the DMM main site remains unaffected even now). For some reason my main account was unaffected by this block last year, but all other accounts got blocked (even the account I created several weeks ago was region blocked since its creation). For some background info, Bungou to Alchemist has been my main game on their platform ever since its release in November 2016 (though I had played Touken Ranbu before it). Initially you could use the famous cookies method to access it without VPN until April 2017, when the DMM GAMES platform changed all(?) game urls, and my country became blocked by pretty much all games on their platform and I guess in general all people lost access to their games (but Bungou to Alchemist remained as one of the very few games you could access in USA, Canada, some European countries and SEA countries without VPN). Well, BunAl remained that way until last year when DMM GAMES started pushing this new region block for the site and the fun times were over for those lucky countries. Some were affected, some not. Even within same country different people had totally different situations, so it was hard to troubleshoot and tell what DMM is up to, until this day came and this post popped up. Now it all makes sense.
I saw this post this morning (about 9hrs ago, the post had been up for about 10-11hrs by then), and I had to do some testing to see if OP was making a fuss about nothing (as these cases where people come whining about DMM are damn common). Everything was fine, DMM GAMES loaded all fine for my main account. No need for VPN or anything, while other accounts gave that already familiar region availability issue message. Thought for a moment that yeah, OP was again one of those who have no idea about DMM’s bs and I decided to just ignore this post. But I take my words back, and had to come back to this post. Now I also got the dreaded message on my main account telling me the site isn’t available in my region. I wonder what happened during the ~7hrs period while I was sleeping and busy with other things. Like, earlier this month (or probably already last month) they started accepting foreign cards again for payment, though the site says otherwise. Me and my friend in another country have persistently tried to use our cards directly for the extra DMMP, and suddenly this month it worked after two years since they stopped support for foreign cards (PayPal and gift cards were pretty much the only options for money spending). And now they aggressively push region block for whole DMM GAMES site? What’s with this company anymore, does someone have DMM-English-DMM dictionary lmao? I’ve know that xenophobia is strong in the company, but holy sh*t I feel bad for many of the game developers who have them as their main platform and they can’t do anything about the situation. I know that few games have devs who wish they could be available to foreigners, but if papa DMM says no, then they gotta listen and do nothing. It’s super sad. And Japanese be wondering why their own game market is full of Chinese and Korean games these days. Gee, I wonder why (fix your mentality and make things more available, even if you don’t have plans for releases in other languages).

So the block is now suddenly gone. It was in effect for about three whole days if my calculations are right. I assume Japanese people roasted them so hard that they had to revert back, as on Twitter (X) there were plenty of Japanese people (who live abroad) complaining about the block and of course foreigners who actively throw their money at them also got a bit of attention. Now I wish they would just stop the stupid region block thing for their games too (which applies to like 99.9% of their games). But I’m glad to be able to browse the DMM GAMES site again without having to use VPN even for that.
It’s been like this for me for at least 6 months now. feels more like 12 The DMM app doesn’t open. No DMM login services have worked without using a VPN.

Luckily looks like vpn still works for some games.
I think it is because of the new video about nutaku being bigger than steam. They mentioned DMM there and asmondgold reacted to it > viral > more foreigner want to check > the JP dont want to deal with western shit > pull a pro gamer move.

I dont play dmm games but i bought a doujin worth around 1000$ or more and now i can’t access , can’t even open the library such a bullcrap
same, from SEA and has been able to access their websites like normal. Yesterday I couldn’t go into the doujin section, unable to access my past purchases. Yikes.
Western credit card companies are trying to put a stop to sites like DMM hard recently. I think this is the reaction to that.
If you were not blocked by the recent sweep last year you may still access games via DMM Games Store on mobile devices.

You can turn off the VPN once the game loads, typically when you reach the home screen. Games like Angelic Link and Iris Mysteria will require a constant connection.
