I have absolutely no clue what I am doing, can anyone point me toward a good guide or tutorial?
I am trying to set up a vpn tunnel so I can access my home media server from the road. I have OMV running on a dedicated server, I am running pfsense for my router/firewall, and I have cyberghost vpn. Currently I am trying to figure out how to use the certificates I created by adding an openvpn device in cyberghost and downloading those certs. Not sure how to use these in pfsense though. I have .crt files but pfsense is asking for input in X.509 PEM format…?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tom of Lawrence Systems on YouTube. He’s the hero we do not deserve.
Besides Tom, pfsense has an OpenVPN wizzard which Tom by the way explains, it’s the easiest way to get it going, after that just use OpenVPN mobile or desktop apps with your config file and good to go!!
Awesome, good looking out. Thank you
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 770,785,426 comments, and only 154,274 of them were in alphabetical order.
thats exactly what i have been using for a few years now.
to be clear. to VPN into your own network you dont use an external VPN service. YOu create your own server. When you have it set up you can use the client export tool to setup your devices who need access. from there on it is just simply start the VPN client and you are connected to your home network.
I am using this on my android tablet, iphone and windows laptop.
Openvpn works great because i have never had any issues connecting to my network.
as said TOM LAWRENCE
Git it working, thanks for your help. Now just have to get it going on my mobile phone. Really appreciate the tip
