Hey, I’m new to this subreddit but I came across some issues while using VPN and watching netflix.
I am literally rewatching the same saga, I usually connect to Canada or Poland (im based in UK, and my account is UK too), it was working fine until one day suddenly the shows I was watching disappeared, even when I was connected to the same location I watched them on the day before.
I don’t really know why this is happening but is it possible that Netflix detects the VPN and removes the shows that aren’t available on Netflix UK? When I was in Poland I could watch the saga without any issues, it only started when I came back to the UK and started using a VPN.
For reference, I am using urban vpn extension for chrome.
Any advice would be appreciated!
I am not having the same exact problem but a problem very similar that was actually posted about 6 months ago and was randomly archived today, as there are very recent comments and even one from only 11h ago.
Anyways, Netflix works completely fine on my phone, but when I try to watch on my PC, it thinks I am using a VPN for some reason when I don’t have one enabled. I’ve logged out and back in, restarted and shut down my PC, checked for any VPNs that might be on that I’m not aware of, and even ran a virus checker and tried to enable and disable the only VPN that works on my PC currently, but like… nothing is working. It’s only happening to MY profile, too. I looked at all the other ones and they have no problem; just mine. Gawww I am annoyed by this.
Not sure what the problem is, but on the post I was looking at earlier, they said it fixed itself after a few days, so I’m hoping that will be the case, I just find it really odd that it’s working perfectly fine on my phone and other profiles but on my PC and MY profile it’s messing up. Also, I have had my account for a while now so it’s not new or anything, which is one of the things people were also saying in the other post. This has never happened before so I am a bit upset… I was trying to eat and watch a show but now it’s like over an hour later and everything is cold.
This is due to the VPN app you’re using; it doesn’t work properly.
I previously experienced the same issue when trying to watch Asian series (Korean and Japanese). When I switched to another VPN app, the issue was resolved.
I’ve tried several VPN apps, and what you need to know is that you must use a VPN app that supports Netflix.
Currently, I’m using:
ExpressVPN
Surfshark VPN
CyberGhost VPN
After 5 months of use, the best one so far is:
CyberGhost VPN
What is the show? Is it possible they have been removed from the region?
It’s possible Netflix has blocked the VPN.
I suggest trying another VPN.
Update: it is fixed just like the other post said, so if you have the same problem just wait a day or two.
I’m experiencing issues trying to log in. It always tells me that the password is incorrect. Tried to log in without vpn and refresh once logged in and vpn is on or switch profiles. It doesn’t change the country then. I’m using surfshark. Does this happen with CyberGhost?
It’s twilight lol. So the saga is definitely available in Poland, US and Canada, and the weirdest part is that it works fine while I watch, nothing pops up or anything. But the next day it suddenly disappears. Could it be that I switch my location often? I use urban vpn purely because it’s free
update 2: ok this stupid glitch has happened again but this time it affects both my phone and my computer. it’s weird because i don’t even use vpn on netflix, i only use it to get better internet connection when mine sucks. and i don’t use it with netflix or even open netflix while i have my vpn on, and it’s only on my phone too, so it’s just weird. better fix again because like why is it doing that…
someone said switch vpns but like i don’t wanna pay for a vpn just to get a better connection… why does it even affect netflix when i don’t touch netflix in the first place. guess ill look for a new one because what the freak
When logging into the Netflix app while connected to a VPN, if you use the usual method of entering your email and password, you’ll likely see an error message saying the password is incorrect. This happens with all VPN apps, without exception.
What should you do?
While on the Netflix login screen, look for the option at the bottom:
“Use sign-in code”
Click on it, and enter your email address. Netflix will send you a code to your email. Enter the code, and you’ll successfully log in to your Netflix account.
Feel free to reach out to me if you encounter the same issue
After Twilight disappears, has it ever reappeared with Urban?
Actually the error that something went wrong happens with the sign in code too unfortunately, I’ve tried that out before.
It does with new locations. Just like now, I’m using Germany as my location whereas yesterday I was using Canada and it worked fine but now it disappeared. So it’s kind of like jumping from location to location everyday until I’ll ran out of them lol
What about signing into your Netflix account through a browser like Chrome? Do you face the same issue there?
Is your Netflix account original, or was it purchased through a third party?
Sounds like you need a better VPN or DNS service to get around geo-locks.
I’ve tried basically everything except more than 2 VPNs (thunder cause that was my original, and surfshark), diff Browsers, PC, mobile, App, Opera VPN. It’s an original account, but a german one, not US.
Do you have any good VPN recommendations? I never heard of DNS though.
So, your account is official. Why do you want to use a VPN app? Is it to switch Netflix content from Germany to the U.S., for example? Or is there another reason?
There are DNS services that remove Netflix geolocks but it also depends on the device you’re using. Control D, DNS4ME, Getflix, and Smartstreaming.tv are providers that I have used.
For a VPN, I have used Windscribe, Keepsolid, and FastestVPN. Some servers work for streaming and some don’t.
I don’t use a VPN any more to watch geo-locked content, I use Control D or Getflix.
I see. I’ll look into all of these, thanks a lot!
