No Internet on Windows 11 and iPad Mini 6 without Proton VPN

I recently uninstalled Proton VPN from my iPad Mini 6 and now I’m getting no Internet on it despite the wi-fi network being connected. Whenever I disable Proton VPN on Windows 11, it says the wi-fi is connected and secured but I’m getting no Internet. They have happened on Windows 11 for a couple months and on my iPad Mini recently. Please help!

EDIT: What I mean is that websites take forever to load with Proton VPN disabled.

UPDATE 2024/01/06: The Internet works now on my iPad Mini 6, but not my Windows 11 laptop when I have Proton VPN disabled.

After uninstalling on windows, try using the network troubleshooter. That’s almost always fixed my issues after deleting a VPN.

On iOS try installing another VPN, go into settings and keep tapping on other VPNs saved (sometimes even if it’s on the off switch it can still keep trying to reconnect).

Other than that, try rebooting your hardware - both your iPad, PC, and router!! (full restart), delete your wifi then put it back on.

Same for me but on linux

Nope. It’s not enabled.

The network troubleshooter always says my wi-fi is connected even though websites take a long time to load and give me an error message that says it “cannot be reached.” I use Opera GX, and it’s the same with every browser.

Also, the websites show up now on my iPad Mini since I posted the edit on my OG post.

try ‘forget’ the network and authorize again

Perhaps there’s nothing wrong with your devices but the router or ISP you’re using. Have you tried connecting to other networks to see if the issue persists?

Tried that. Doesn’t work.

I have another wi-fi network. It works fine on my other family members’ devices, but not my Windows laptop or iPad Mini.

my last straw - did you restart all your devices including router?

or tried different browsers? and dns configs within

tried enable and disable killswitch?

Reinstall the proton?
Flush dns via cmd?

The router was restarted. I tried different browsers and DNS configs. I enabled and disabled the killswitch. I flushed DNS via Command Prompt. None of them worked.

no word about client reinstall

I don’t need to reinstall it on my iPad Mini. All sites load on it since I posted the edit in the OG post. It’s just that every site takes a long time to load on my Windows laptop with Proton VPN disabled, and they all give me an error message that says the site “cannot be reached.”

windows, jesus christ

I did that too. Doesn’t work unless Proton VPN is enabled.

proton subscription is valid?

Unfortunately, I don’t have a Proton subscription.

maybe

I figured out the issue, at least for me. The ProtonVPN TUN is not releasing the IP which was set when the VPN connection was made. To regain my internet connection, I took the following steps.
Open settings
Select Network & Internet
Select Advanced network settings
Select More network adapter options
Right click on ProtonVPN TUN and select Options
Double click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
Enable the Obtain an IP address automatically as well as Obtain DNS server address automatically
Click OK, then click OK to exit out

My VPN LAN is TAP-ProtonVPN Windows Adapter V9. It already has the IP address and DNS server address obtained automatically.
