About to refund but want to know if anyone else had the same issue.
Living in Japan.
Recently got Nordvpn nearly a month ago. Nordlynx has never worked doesn’t matter what trouble shooting I do. Even command prompt etc.
Yet OPENvpn works.
Previously used ExpressVPN for years and zero issues.
Express doesn’t have nordlynx. Have you tried servers outside Japan. You only have 30 days for a refund
One of OpenVPNs intent use cases was to work on highly restricted networks, and as a result it explicitly can work over TCP 443, i.e. https port. Very few places are going to block that, and OpenVPN takes advantage of it.
NordLynx, on the other hand, is based on Wireguard, which runs over UDP, default configs use 51820, although I don’t recall off the top of my head of NordLynx does that. Anyway, the point is, basically, Wireguard(and by extension, NordLynx) are _much_ easier to block on a network. I suspect that’s probably what you are running into.
Are you trying it from your own network connection or from a business one? A business one might be far more likely to block it. But I’d say try a few different Internet cafes and see if you have the problem across all of them.
Hey there! Did you ever figure this out? I’m able to use nordlynx on mobile but not on desktop or laptop. Customer support’s solution was to not use nordlynx altogether and just use TCP, but it’s much slower. Nordlynx was working for me for a week or two, but then stopped and I haven’t been able to get it working again
I know I mean I had been using ExpressVPN as a service before.
Yeah tried many servers.
It’s my own network connecting but is it possible that my ISP is blocking the nordlynx connection
Nope I just went back to express vote m which works perfect.
Might be your phone. Have you tried on WiFi and on cell? Cause mine works fine
Sure- I’d say it’s a bit unusual, but I don’t know, maybe that’s a Japanese ISP thing. You should check your own router too, maybe you have something in that set that is blocking UDP.
UDP isn’t used nearly as often as TCP, I don’t know if most people would actually notice if you just blocked UDP from the Internet on their router.
It’s my own network connecting
That doesn’t mean your router isn’t blocking UDP unless you are certain it’s not because you know your network gear and configuration well enough to be certain already. It’s worth taking a quick check just to be sure if you aren’t.
Good to know. I had express my last time in Japan and it was flawless, so I’ll probably follow suite. Thank you for the quick reply!
It’s intermittent for me. It’s been good after my last modem/ router power cycle, so fingers crossed it stays that way.
I tried both PC and smartphone. Neither worked.
The OPENvpn connections work fine. It’s just Nordlynx
I’ll check.
It’s an Asus is default configuration so maybe it is blocking UDP.
No worries I use expressvpn on pc, iphone and android and zero issues, connects quick with all available countries. Nordvpn never worked for me. Good luck.
So you reset your modem and then were able to connect via nordlynx?
Open a support case they’re responsive
Yes, I have to unplug both the modem and router for about 20 seconds then let them power back up. This worked before but eventually stopped working. Only temporary fix I know of
