Never used Betternet, paying Windscribe customer here. However I think it is a little misleading to imply that present day OVPN / Pango Betternet are somehow influenced or under the thumb of the Iran regime.

You are right, I didn’t try to mislead anyone I’ve provided outside credible news source but I just wanted people to pay more attention. Another thing is that since this story came out nearly a year ago or so and Aura statement cannot be verified, i think its still good to be curious in Rezazadeh’s involvement in the company.

According to a U.S. corporation called Aura, Rezazadeh was the founder and CEO of Betternet Technologies, Vancouver-based developers of a VPN, but his firm was bought in 2016 by another company that later became part of Aura. Though the original VPN users were migrated to the new owners’ version of Betternet, the technology was completely different and the new firm has had nothing to do with Rezazadeh, said Aura spokeswoman Clare Carluccio.
