Possibly a VPN VIRUS?

wasup to anyone who can help me:

i downloaded a vpn from the chrome store called Touch VPN, when i downloaded it, it opened a new tab like usual , but it said that it was a WiX domain and that it was shut down or ‘didnt exist’

then a notification popped up on my pc that a new program had been installed called touch vpn and that it will work on bootup even when not using chrome (understandable) and then when i clicked on it , my pc shut down and showed a blue screen error, also a qr code to the micorsoft website for these errors, …

blah blah you get it

the fact that i have jusst downloaded a ‘completely free’ vpn now is making me wary of the possible dangers, especially the fact that their website is non existant and it made my pc crash, everything is fine now, i just need confirmation if it is actuyally scetchy or if its just a shitty program…

for anyone interested my pc specs: hp hq tre 71004 pavilion

2tb hdd

some sort of amd apu

i also deleted all the shitty bloatware it came with from pc world, all undelatable programs that arent needed are force stopped

thanks

If you downloaded extension from Chrome Store it shouldn’t install any program on your computer. Remove extension from Chrome and app. Then run Windows Defender full scan and after that download Malwarebytes and run full scan. Remember tick “Scan for rootkits” option in Malwarebytes settings. And you shouldn’t use VPN extensions and random VPN services. They can be malicious or they sell your data etc. Always download VPN provider own app or use OpenVPN client. Good paid VPN providers are Mullvad and PIA. If you don’t want to pay (I recommend paid VPN services) you can use SigaVPN or ProtonVPN.
