PS5 with VPN usage for gaming (EA FC)

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to play EA FC with my friends in Portugal. I live in the US.

The issue is when I am playing with them on the same team, we one of us has poor connections (I am assuming because we are on different servers). The objective, in my view, of the VPN would be to connect to the same server as Portugal and thus having less latency.

I’ve got a VPN subscription with servers in Portugal, but I’m not sure if setting it up with a VPN will reduce lag issues or not.

I’m considering getting a second VPN-capable router and connecting it to my existing T-Mobile router. Then, I’d connect my PS5 to the new router.

Am I delusional to think this might work?

Relevant (or not) notes: PS5 is on the 2nd floor of my house. I have a T-Mobile router (BGW320-505) on the bottom floor, but it doesn’t support VPNs.

Wouldn’t it be easier to create a European PSN account? Or does that not work?

Afaik EA games route traffic based on geolocation instead of account region.

I believe it is a live location server selection, not according to your PSN account.
