Just getting into Blue Iris, I have an xfinity router and I’m looking to set up remote viewing but having issues. I can’t get it to show the dedicated computer the blue iris is on to set up port forwarding and doing an stunnel. Also, I don’t have experience with setting up a VPN. Does anyone have any simplified instructions on setting up a secured connection that is reliable utilizing an xfinity router?
Look on YouTube for a video that deals with setting up Blue Iris on Zero Tier.
It allows me to have a VPN connection on my cell phone that connects to all three of my Blue Iris servers on different networks.
Pretty easy video showing how to set it up and care free once it’s done.
I setup a Debian virtual machine with HyperV so I can setup PiVPN in it, very easy to do.
There is a Windows program called SoftEther VPN that works well for setting up a VPN. Works great for me. It will even give you a dynamic DNS to use.

+1 for tailscale. Just went this route myself and it was super easy. OP, to get alerts working on your mobile device you’ll just update the WAN IP to the tailscale assigned IP of your server. (Update the WAN IP on both the server and mobile application)
