I have set up a VPN-server using Softether - however, neither the native Windows client nor the Mac Os one are able to connect to the server except for Softether registering the Mac Os client as “DoS Attack” and terminating the Windows native client connection with “A client which is non-SoftEther VPN software has connected to the port.”. The only thing that works is the SoftEther client application but of course especially the usage of os-native clients was of my interest.
What OS and platform are your running your SoftEther server on? I have SoftEther servers running on Ubuntu Linux on X86 and on OpenWrt Linux on Mips 32 bit processors, and both SoftEther servers are working with multiple SoftEther Windows and SoftEther Linux clients.
I wanted to remote connect two MacBooks using a VPN-server running on a Windows computer without having to install any third party clients just as shown to be possible on the SoftEther website, the server is configured correctly but it still won’t work without the client software. There is no additional configuration necessary, just entering the login and the address in the OSX VPN implementation and go - this won’t work. L2TP is turned on, there isn’t anything else described as necessary.
Not sure what to tell you. My SoftEther servers have always been on Linux. I am currently am using the native EtherSoft client and OpenVPN clients. In the past I have used SSTP and L2TP. The hardest thing was getting port forwarding on my main router, and firewalls setup correctly
