Spotify stops working if the Tailscale client is running

If I connect the Windows Tailscale client to a tailnet, Spotify stops working. It seems some Spotify functionality works, like login and loading the home screen, but viewing or playing a song or playlist fails.

None of my traffic should be going through Spotify. Spotify says to turn off any VPN so I guess it has some VPN detection and maybe that is being triggered. Any ideas for a workaround?

Losing Spotify will upset a lot of people. Having to jocket Tailscale on/off makes it a lot less convenient.

No, Spotify doesn’t give any clues like that. Trying to play a playlist eventually says the playlist can’t be found.
