Not sure how it is for Windows but I’m on Mac and we have a couple Surfshark download options, specifically either getting the app from the website or the App Store. I used to think both were the same and we were to choose which way is quicker/easier for us but I recently read somewhere that there were actual differences between the web and the Store apps. I can’t remember what they were though, does anybody know? I’m guessing it would make sense for the web app to be the better one to download, but I’ve been running the App Store version ever since I got Surfshark. Should I switch?
So there are smaller differences yes. With The AppStore surfshark app, you have the choice of OpenVPN, IKEv2, and wireguard if I recall and the kill switch operates as just a reconnect if vpn disconnects switch. In the surfshark vpn app from surfsharks website, the only protocol choice is IKEV2, but the kill switch operates as an actual kill switch, blocking internet if you’re disconnected from the vpn.
