You’re generating new private data and new activity every day. Do your best to protect the new stuff. And some good VPNs are pretty cheap. Look into free trials and then a paid subscription.

I’d still get one, best free one is ProtonVPN and best paid NordVPN (at least that’s what I’ve concluded from my research) or you can just run your own on a VPS(which IMO is the best option

In addition to what others said, most countries do not penalize old actions based on new rules.
i did this too till i got letter from copyright troll law firm demanding for money, never paid never took any actions and nothing happend. (that law firm was known to send letter to everybody they could, even if it was 1 kb you seeded)
It’s not a waste if you plan on continuing to download. You may get a notice about one or two things you have already downloaded…or you may not get a notice. No reason not to get the protection.

Depends where you @. For instance, if you live in Germany, you need to get a vpn asap otherwise your money gone. But personally I live in Estonia and nobody gives a shit here so everyone pirates w/out vpn.

Depending on where you live you may or may not get a copyright infringement letter. Countries like Germany is really strict on this, you have to pay a fine I believe. In the US you might get a letter from your ISP warning you to not do it again, thats it. Generally, if you receive a letter demanding you to pay a fine for content that you downloaded, don’t do it. You basically admit to it and they can pursue further legal action against you. Not the same in all countries
