For those who know, how do I use a VPN with tivimate? How do I set it up? I have Nordvpn and I downloaded the app from the play store and installed it on my android tv box. What do I have to do next? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Just connect to a server in nord and that’s it
It’s just like using any apps with VPN. Connect your VPN, then turn on the Tivimate app and use it as normal.
IP Vanish or Nord VPN, start either of them…connect to VPN, when connected hit go to Tivimate and startup…done. The VPN stays connected in the background.
Tivimate is separate from the VPN. Run the vpn first then run Tivimate.
If you wanna allow auto connect, or if you use other apps, I’d suggest using the spilt tunnel feature to only enable it for tivimate. Then you can just let it auto connect and stay connected without affect other apps.
I don’t use NordVPN, but I def use a VPN. Try different settings within Nord. Download and install Analiti. Run it to get the speeds with the default Nord settings, then try changing some settings in Nord then run Analiti again to see if the download/upload speeds changed. Try changing the Protocol settings to get the highest settings you can get. If you’re still buffering after that, try selecting a diff country or city. I heard that due to the World Cup, a lot of ISP’s are throttling connections.
Turn VPN on. Use Tivimate. Done.
Nobody here actually answered ops question.
Yes you can start a vpn before hand and open the app, but can you add vpn to the app itself to save yourself a step?
Ok, thank you all for the help. That was easy! Now, can I have your opinions on how helpful a VPN is in reducing buffering and freezing. I am using an android tv box with 8 Gigs of Ram and a 400 MB hardwired cable connection and constantly experience buffering and freezing. Sub from a well-known provider.
Thanks again!
What VPNs support split tunneling?
That would be the perfect solution also for me. Had the problem, with still connected vpn other apps are not working.
Can you explain which settings are needed only have it for one app?
Thanks!
right, I would like to use VPN on Google TV but only for TiviMate
possibly being throttled by your ISP. So VPN could remove that issue…
I usually prefer to verify your ip has changed as well when you connect to VPN. You can install something like ‘analiti’ (which is a speed test app, but also shows your IP). or ‘IP Tools’.
Analiti works well for speed test, while speed tests aren’t always the answer (as an IT folk could attest). They do help establish a baseline as to what speeds you are getting, without and without VPN. As well if certain servers getting better speeds at times. Generally pick the area closest to you on VPN, but there are times when those servers are lagging a bit.
You’re gonna see a speed drop when connected to a VPN. But if your ISP is throttling you, the buffering/freezing should go away assuming no other issues (ie: provider).
also as usual with posts here though, this has nothing to do with TVM
sounds like ur box isn’t a certified Android TV device… so good luck w/that. sure it runs Android but that doesn’t mean it’s certified. so updates n playstore problems maybe b an issue later
ExpressVPN does on everything except for my iphone
Ok…talk to me like I’m 3…
So…do I go into Surfshark and add Tivimate to the bypass list?? How exactly do you set up “split tunnel”? Is it just partitioning off the Tivimate app by itself?
reading this thread now and holy shit, people have lost the ability to answer questions effectively
