Im from the southend of brazil and my ping to any server is really bad,
i wanted to know if anyone from Brazil or SA uses VPN to help with that and if so what VPN and how much does it help.
Thanks.
Hi! I’m from Argentina and I’m using Mudfish. Is cheap and reduce about 50 of my ping!
Im going to assume you’re on PC because of the cost of consoles in Brazil, so you may want to look into tools to help alleviate some ping related issues.
Look into launching the game with the XIVQuickLauncher and installing NoClippy. From what I understand (from a Xeno video) is that you get animation locked when you push a command client side. Once the server recieves your command, it sends you back a packet telling your client to re-animation lock you and not accept new skill inputs. This means playing at like 200ms (probably near what you’re getting), its effectively adding 400ms lag to your inputs. NoClippy fixes that issue.
(If someone wants to correct my understanding of this, let me know, I’m going off what I heard in a video).
I have 4 or 5 people from Brazil in my FC, and they all use mudfish.
I’ve used it as well when I had some issues with the node that connects me to the servers.
Seems to work well for them for the most part, worked well for me.
Depends on why it’s bad.
It might help or it may do nothing.
You’d have to run a trace route and see if there’s a specific node that’s causing higher ping issues. Coming from Brazil iirc one of the major nodes consistently has issues during prime time, so If your internet gets routed through a congested node changing it with a VPN would help.
Mud fish works very well for that.
I’ve been using ExitLag since 2020, decreased my ping from 330ms to around 160-170ms. I also use xivalexander to help with weaving.
I’ve tried various ping programs, currently using Mudfish, can vouch for it for FF and it’s very affordable.
Any tips for someone on ps5?
In my experience playing on Chaos DC from Goiás, every VPN I tried didn’t help with lowering the ping but it does help stabilize it when the connection to the servers get spotty during prime time.
Seconding Noclippy for improving skill weaving and input lag.
Unfortunately, nothing helps with snapshotting for AoEs, that’s all server side, so you just kind of have to accept that you need to move sooner than everyone else to avoid getting hit by things.
jogo no Aether com Exitlag e Noclippy sem problemas. costumava usar o XIVAlexander, que é bom também, mas de tempo em tempo dava erro e mudei pro Noclippy. recomendo demais
I’m from Uruguay and I use Mudfish (on the subscription payment plan so that I can use multipath mode without worries, and judging by all the complaints about lost credits I see on their forums, it’s the most hassle-free plan) for a reduction of about 50ms to NA and EU, putting me respectively on the 150ms and 170ms ranges. The reason I use Mudfish is because it’s the only gaming VPN that supports Linux; if you’re on Windows you’ll have more options.
About Mudfish specifically, while most German nodes will perform similarly, the difference between “US West - Los Angeles - Google” nodes (there are three of them) and everything else is brutal. If you play on NA you should always check the dashboard to make sure you’re connected to a good node. The Google nodes sometimes encounter issues and you’ll see either that they don’t have the fastest route, or high stddev values; if you see either of these change your node. Connecting through Mudfish without the Google nodes is still better than connecting without Mudfish at all, because it does a very good job of stabilising your connection.
As others have pointed out, you should use NoClippy or XIVAlexander or xivmitmlm (a lesser known project by XIVAlexander’s author and the only real choice for console players), but understand that the issue they address does not eliminate the need for a VPN and you’ll still need to take your high ping into account when it comes to snapshots/dodges. Our character’s position is accurate to controls but the game can be spotty sending position updates to the servers (i.e. making our movement actually matter) if we’re not pressing buttons. If NoClippy is an option for you and you play a lot of RDM or NIN, you should choose that and enable the options to help with dualcast and mudras.
What do you mean by really bad? I’m also from the southend of Brazil and I’ve been playing on 170-190ms ping for years, and doing all kind of contents, even ultimates. That range of ping if far from being a problem.
ill test quicklauncher and noclippy ty
i have 0 experience with vpn’s ahaha
is mudfish easy to use and does it have a trial ? ty
Route through a PC in your local network, from where you’ll use xivmitmlm (from XIVAlexander’s author, check their GitHub) and your chosen VPN solution (you may need extra virtual machines if you’re using something other than Mudfish).
im from curitiba so my ping nears the 300ms mark FeelsBadMan
ill try Chaos, ty.
