VPN and social media

I want to have a VPN running at all times on my mobile, but I’ve heard once you log into any kind of social media it’s essentially giving your identify away?

Is this true?

And yes I need social media for work.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Privacy does not equal anominity.

if you want to be anonymous with VPN, you need to use a clean browser thats not logged onto anything or ever been used any logon , IE has no cookies set, however thats Windows , Android is much more strict

best bet use a different browser a new one for VPN stuff , perhaps tor browser

The entire premise of the post begs the question: Huh?

If you’re using VPN, and if you login to any services whilst using that VPN, the servers of that service would see your account in that VPN’s location. That’s it.

If you want privacy, just block cookies and trackers. If you want anonymity, don’t login to anything and also use a VPN.

You are right guys i agree.i miss understood the guy question. And to be clear using a different browsers a vpn or anything you want will not save you from the data mining big companies do.because you are exchanging data and they are collecting the data about everything you do on their sites apps.what the guys are telling is good for nothing using another browser will stop your data to go to google in case its chrome. but nothing proove that your data will not be sent to another company the owner of the browser you are using(remember if the product is free then its you the product somehow).to be anonymous use fake informations on your accounts give less details or wrong one.thats it.vpn can help you hide your location and can save you from cyberattacks changing your IP.i hope that my answer will help you.

Social media like Facebook can easily figure out who you are behind that vpn depend how it detect your browser fingerprint. If you using a close source browser like google chrome or microsoft browser while behind vpn, even you go huh “incognito mode” they can still detect your browser fingerprints, exposed your identify. Also those close soure browser may give away your identify to those social media. So what if you use open source browser like brave browser or bromite browser that respect your privacy but also protect your privacy by blocked ads, trackers, disable webrtc and hide your canvas fingerprints? Well social media may still detect your unique browser fingerprint like browserleaks and panopticlick but that really depand what browser fingerprint detection software they use. So if you want to use a open source social media that does not figure out you are but then respect your privacy while behind a vpn use Mastodon or other open source social media. Still need to use those open source browser because if you don’t use them and use only close source browser, those social media may still know what you’re doing online. Depand on their term of service and privacy policy. Oh i forgot if you using a android well you need to download and use a open soure keyboard from f droid.

Open soure social media

Those browser fingerprint test website

Open socre browser

Even in chrome you can navigate anonymously choosing the private navigation tab.plus from what i know on a mobile he will be using apps no need for. A web browser

Exactly, I think people haven’t really understood the difference here.

Yes! The amount of people that think a VPN makes anonymous really don’t understand much of the internet.

That is a big delusion regarding chrome incognito mode. All it does is prevents your parents from seeing porn you’ve been browsing.
