VPN Configurations vs Personal VPN?

I have just noticed and I’m curious what is the difference? Do I need to have them both?

Ikev2 can be using the Personal VPN configuration, this is handy when you want to run ProtonVPN alongside other applications which need the Device VPN Configuration. The other protocols use a Device VPN Configuration

I want to say this is because iOS and macOS natively support IKEv2. The other protocols can be made to work on iOS but I would assume it works in a way similar to network extensions on macOS. I feel like calling it “personal vpn” made it much more confusing than it would’ve been otherwise. What I really want to know is what defines the other protocols as less personal? Did we share less childhood memories? Does it not know my dad?

Like a bunch of people in a room said this was okay, this is how we will distinguish things and never looked back.

Lockdown needs the Device VPN configuration slot. You can keep both running at the same time if you manually select ikev2 in ProtonVPN, which will use the Personal VPN configuration slot then.
