VPN connections

Does anyone know if I need a business package in order to connect via my secure access to work? We just installed the residential package with Starlink, however I’m unable to connect.

I work remotely now and connect through Verizon dsl, which is so slow.

I have residential and connect to VPN for work.

Some vpn setups don’t like the cgnat/double net. They expect a public ip.

I use VPN 24/7 to the office over my Ubiquiti gear via Starlink residential to bring data to my computers and IP voice for the phones. And yes, latency is fantastic enough to run VOIP even through the tunnel.

I also run an independent tunnel into the office via Wireguard on the cellphone to force all my data through the office. So out in the world its tunneled and home on the Starlink wifi its a tunnel within a tunnel.

So, no. No business packages are required.

I have successfully connected through 3 different VPN products since having Starlink Residencial. It’s still possible that Starlink is doing something to block your connection, but if that is true, it would also have to be partly the fault of your VPN, and the specific configuration enforced by your work.

To be clear, I don’t think this is actually very likely. You may want to do some basic network troubleshooting to the VPN endpoint over both ISPs.

Is your VPN only allowed from specific geographical locations?

I use a VPN for work and personal use. Switching between the twwo VPN (and occasionally none) is seamless. Residential service.

I’m currently living overseas and have to occasionally use a VPN to access websites from the US. It might be an issue you need to take up with IT at your place of employment.

Pulse, wireguard, express VPN, open VPN, Nord VPN have all worked just fine for me

I use a VPN for personal use over starlink, and I also connect through a work VPN with no issues on either.

I have residential and connect to VPN

u/Moka_blu_2023 how do you solve that? I’m trying to use the Microsoft authenticator to connect to my fortclient VPN and it didin’t work when both (laptop and celphone) is connected to starlink. If the phone aren’t connect at the starlink (just the laptop) it’s work. but if both are connected with the starlink, the VPN connection fails.

If you initiated the VPN tunnels to a VPN server from your computer, it should be fine.

If you’re trying to VPN back home to a VPN system behind a Starlink CGNAT connection (home users). It won’t work.

If you get a real public IP address from a commercial Starlink account with the expensive dish. Yes. VPN’ing back to that system with the public IP will work.

I had thought about this.

Great to know
Thank you so much

Good to know. Thank you very much

Thank you. I’m not real techy so trying to figure how to connect to authenticator. DSL bring my app up on my laptop to connect however starlink just spins on the app

Thank you. I’m thinking the same thing.

We have Microsoft authenticator so I’m trying to figure out how to connect

Thank you. Great to know
