Does it really work to use a VPN to reduce ping? I’m from Chile, and I want to play a game that doesn’t have servers in South America. In NA I have 180-200 ping.
If I use VPN, i could reduce the ping ?
VPN will just add another hop to your destination and it will increase your ping.

Saying a VPN connection can only make your connection slower is simply wrong and the people who gives that answer just doesn’t know the pros and cons of using a VPN.
That being said, most easily available VPN access you can buy doesn’t improve your connection speed as this is not what they’re built for.
If you are in region A and want to play a game in region B, your connection is routed through a lot of different providers over the public internet adding “hops” you need to go through to reach your destination.
If you can find a VPN provider with a server in both region A and B that is connected through their own backbone network could potentially make your connection faster.
I don’t have any suggestions as to what provider that could be though.
It won’t reduce your ping as the time taken for your signal to reach NA will more or less be the same, all the vpn will do is show the game you are in NA, but your signal will still originate from SA so time taken shouldn’t change. Aka ping will not change.

In some cases yes. Many of the people here are from free worlds where the government does not snoop on every packet. Using a vpn that hides your type of traffic could let it pass by quicker. Another example is many isp block or throttle p2p connections. Having a vpn would allow it to be unthrottled

VPN will do nothing more than increase latency… As you’d add additional hops to your connection with game servers.
