VPN w/ MLB TV. Finally!

I’m almost afraid to post this because I don’t want them to figure out a way to kill it, but Apple TV with a VPN is the solution I’ve been looking for to watch my local baseball team. It works flawlessly. For the entire MLB season and the VPN I calculate it’s about $18/mo all-in. The only steaming service that has my local channel is nearly $100/mo. The MLB TV app allows for:

  • Multibox (up to 4 games)

  • Game cast w/ stats and pitch locations

  • Picture in picture

  • radio broadcast audio overlays

Gone are the days of using the VPN on my computer to spoof my location, fire up the game, disconnect the VPN, cast to a laggy chromecast. This is so smooth and I’ve had zero connectivity issues. It’s a gamechanger, pun intended!

I’m not sure of the subs rules on recommending a VPN, but you can DM me if you’re curious which one I use.

Apple TV finally allowing a VPN changed my life. It was the missing piece to a very unnecessarily complicated puzzle. I can finally watch all my British TV channels live from the US, on my TV, without jumping through hoops.

Which VPN are you using? I have Nord and can’t select different cities. Only countries.

I get the free MLB.tv subscription with T-Mobile, which is awesome, except I only care about my local team, so its basically useless, which really pisses me off that we have to go to such lengths to watch/support our local teams. Ridiculous. Glad you’re up and running though…I won’t get into detail on how I get to watch my games too, but I do. :pirate_flag:

I’m still getting the blackout signal for my home team connected to Nord. Tried a couple cities. Is there a trick to getting it to work?

You can also have 4 total people in that account. I have shared accounts for the last 5 years. Take that as you may

I’ve paid for a year of Surfshark and can’t get MLB to work on VPN this season.

Also, for what’s worth you can do the same with Android TV, but it doesn’t allow for multibox or PnP.

I haven’t tried one on the Apple TV but I’ve tried multiple different services outside of that and MLB.tv has sniffed it out every time. I guess I should try again

Is this one with a dedicated Nord IP address or just the basic service? I’d love to be able to listen to the Phillies’ WIP broadcast over the video without doing a pause dance between my phone and the video feed on the TV to get it to sync.

Proton doesn’t work with MLB.tv for me. I’ve been annoyed for years.

I’ve been opening the app connected to a US VPN or else nothing will load, but during the game I have to switch to Canada/Mexico or else it stops playing during the ads. I’ve even disabled ad/malware blocking on the VPN, but it still doesn’t work on a US Proton server.

is this still working?

is your experience/thoughts the same as when you initially made this post?

trying to help elderly parents watch their favorite team at home but continued bally/xfinity contract negotiations delays any reasonable tv watching options they have access to due to blackouts.

if this still works i’d gladly give them my apple tv (current gen. 128GB ethernet) and pay for a vpn service. i’ll let them pay for their own mlb subscription though lol!

thanks!

I’m watching my local team now on my ATV and a VPN. Can’t do that what my iPad or MacBook, but hey, the big tv is better anyway

I live in San Diego and can’t even watch Dodger games it sucks, I have to restart my phone multiple times to get it to work

Last time I tried MLB.tv blocked me for having a VPN. This was on Chrome I believe.

It’s even cheaper if you have T-mobile and get mlb.tv for free.

Surfshark sub is up. What works with MLB?

on starlink at the moment using PIA on apple tv. Cant get any games to play ‘content not available’. Location set to never doesnt help either. Annoying

I turn my location off (Apple TV)

And Albania for ad-free YouTube!
