Hey all!
Setting up OpenVPN on my phone for the first time, and I noticed there’s a slew of ‘OpenVPN’ apps with decent ratings.
The one I settled on was ‘OpenVPN for Android’, but I want to ensure I’m using the best/most secure. Any advice?

There are 2 applications that we can recommend:
- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.openvpn.openvpn which is the official closed-source client. It has some caveats though (doesn’t do
tapeven with root…) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.blinkt.openvpn which is the free and open-source client (it’s somewhere on GitHub) that has all the features you could wish for. The dev is also very reactive.
Get the openvpn apps, dont get any third party apps whatever you do. They are the opposite of security.
I’ve used both and they work great with PiVPN. Be warned though if you want to do the always on VPN feature it’s a battery drainer.
